We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacq Becker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacq, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Becoming a mom has definitely shifted everything! It’s made me more focused on what’s important and time management has been key. I find that I work better when I know exactly what hours I need to be productive, otherwise I’ll inevitably procrastinate. Becoming a mom has also shifted my mindset on what work means. If I’m spending time away from my baby it better be because I love it! Showing passion for what you do is definitely something I want to model for my son.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I was younger I thought there was only one way to achieve success in the music industry, but as I got older I learned that there are multiple ways to achieve your dreams and there are several paths to get you there. I fell into creating children’s music really by accident, I couldn’t find what I was looking to play for my son so decided to create my own brand of children’s music that both parents and children could relate to. ‘Zoology’ by Mama B & Uncle T is a contemporary children’s album that families can enjoy and create memories to together.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
‘Zoology‘ would have never come to life if it weren’t for my two main collaborators on the project, Connor Marks and Travis Warner (aka Uncle T). Connor and I were in a band together together way back when and both had kids around the same time. It was the voice memos that we all sent back and forth that inspired this journey into the children’s music space!
