Meet Jacques Lesure: Jazz Guitarist & Spiritual Life Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacques Lesure and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacques, what matters most to you?
Integrity. We are complex. We have thoughts, which generate feelings, which bring on words and actions. The alignment of all four are important. When they are aligned,,you are living and walking in integrity. This does NOT mean that you will be PERFECT or that your old missteps vanish. In integrity, you try to remedy the past as mush as possible,,and do your ABSOLUTE BEST going forward. You are who you SAY you are and how you publicly present yourself.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a guitarist. For years, I have claimed to be a “JAZZ GUITARIST”,which holds true as far as recognizable genres are concerned, However, I ACTUALLY play “BAM” Black American Music. I play the collective experiences of my ancestors to the cultural experiences of Black Americans today. I think my unique ability is to understand life and sensibility prior to the internet, but still be very astute at what is happening TODAY. This comes out in my music. My music will touch a teenager as well as an nonagenarian. I was blessed to study academically as well as “in the street” So, I dig both sides of the coin. The life of a musician is not easy. I dont care at what level you find yourself. Busking at the beach or Carnegie Hall. I”ve done both. You must be dedicated to PERSONAL excellence and self motivated. When you hear my latest group MFUO, you WILL FEEL good as well as hear good music. We want you to leave in a better emotional state than when you entered the venue. I guess thats the spiritual coach coming out.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Actually my daughter is coming to town with her boyfriend as I write this. I invited them to a day trip in Catalina, for day one. Day 2-4, we will hit Griffith Park and the Observatory,Venice Beach and Hermosa Beach, We will go to Leimert Park and The Watts Tower. Day 5, we fly to Vegas for a few hours. We go to the Mob Museum over there and do some gambling. Day 6 and 7 are all about INGLEWOOD. I’m an Arts Commissioner for the city. We visit So Fi, view the Adobe House and view all the public art, The restaurants and bars we hang are Lavender Blue,Post and Beam, Spartina, The Flavor Table, Hilltop Coffee and The Melody Bar and Crown and Hops Brewery.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people in my life that have mentored me, to enumerate by name is a big task. They are from coast to coast, and on many continents,They are the foundation and building blocks of who I am. The good thing about them is most dont want public recognition. They poured into my life to make me better, expecting nothing but my success in return At this present time, I will give my wife Kimberly a little shine. In addition to being married to ME(no EASY assignment LOL),she is also a public school educator. You KNOW how THAT is going THESE days!
