We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaila and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaila, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Carmel,Indiana my background and upbringing impacted who I am today in a positive way, i grew up with a solid foundation. 2 parent household. Seeing my parents get up and go to work everyday while still making time for their family at home let me know that it was okay to go for what you want and still be able to make time for whats important. While also having a relationship with God and going to church every Sunday and having Sunday dinner with family.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an actress and im also an entrepreneur Ive been acting since the age of nine! I think one thing that sets me apart from others I have my own hair company Jai Majesty Hair and i am also in school as well! I decided to go back to school to get my degree. Im most excited about the future because I have so much to look forward to such as upcoming projects, and just stepping out and letting people know that Im actually what they have been looking for in the industry! putting my hair company into work getting new clientele and expanding my brand into the entertainment industry as well! I got to where I am today by making my mind up at a young age what i wanted to be, so I was in a lot of theatrical plays around the city, in church plays, and studying and taking acting classes. As far as my hair company I did a lot of research and finding what i actually wanted my brand to represent, and how i can stick out from other hair company’s . It is not easy but who says the road to success is easy? So, i am ready for the challenges. one lesson that i have learned is no matter how talented you are or how much you pray about it no one is going to hand it to you, you have to go out here and work for it and get it yourself do not wait for handouts because it will never come. I want people to know that when they see my work on their Tv’s that its genuine and coming from the heart. I work hard for everything i want. Im here to stay so you have to get used to me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
oooh this is good! definitely taking them to inglewood to get some good food! im going to give the 3 options you want soulfood i’ll take them to M’dears, woodys bbq, or the serving spoon, jamaican, the jerk spot is one or Nigerian! Cant go wrong with none of the options in Inglewood! in the morning we’re hitting the runyon to get a good workout in followed by a acai bowl ! we’re hitting a museum, shopping on melrose and the grove, followed by a nice night out at TAO, then, we’re going home getting refreshed. You know there is always an event going on here in LA so we are going to the hottest party in town and see the hottest people in the city to end the night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
absolutely! I’d like to thank My manager Susan! she has helped me a lot along this journey especially when i first moved to California. My family here in Cali, taking me in and allowing me to come and spend time whenever i feel the need, being a helping hand and having open arms whenever it is necessary . Also, my mom! she is my hero even though she is in Indiana i will forever feel love from her no matter how many miles away, she is such a gem! I can call her crying, or whenever Im feeling down and she would know exactly what to say and how to say it to clear my mind and get me back on track. I am forever grateful for our relationship.
