We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaimie Beebe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaimie, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
That’s a loaded question with a million potential answers! The ultimate end goal is to always wake up happy. I’m there now, so as long as I keep going on this path then wherever I end up is the right place. That being said, ideally, I want to continue to create more and bigger projects and always stay busy. I’ve been successfully working as a Casting Director for over 10 years now and am really proud of all the projects I’ve helped create and look forward to continue casting and get more involved in the creative process by producing my own projects with my production company, Creative & Depraved. And through the success of my podcast “Strictly Stalking”, I plan to continue launching more podcasts in the True Crime genre.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been one to think outside the box to get what I want and when I have an idea, I don’t let anything stop me. When I decided I wanted to be a Casting Director, I had very little experience and wanted to jump right in rather than learn the ropes working for a big casting company… although that probably would’ve been an easier way! Instead, I would stand outside the film schools and ask the students if they needed a Casting Director, and eventually some of them hired me. I learned it by doing it along with the students and benefited because they continued to hire me after they graduated and I had the opportunity to grow along with them as they produced and directed bigger and bigger projects. I learned that as long as I taught myself and kept going I could get everything I wanted. I took the long road to get where I am, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. When I decided to start my podcast all I had was an idea but no clue how to actually make it happen. Luckily, one thing I’ve learned through the years is to surround yourself with people who know what they’re doing and learn from them. My business partner and I went to Kast Media, pitched our idea, and they brought us to where we are now. Both careers are a lot of work and equally rewarding and successful. I learned that as long as I have the end result in my sights there are a million ways to get there.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love LA! I’ve lived in Los Angeles for about 18 years now and I’m constantly finding new things to see and do. If I had friends visiting for a week we’d be very busy! One of my favorite hikes is to the Hollywood sign… all the way up to the top and behind for that perfect Hollywood tourist photo. Some of my other favorite place to take friends include; the Magic Castle, the Topanga Lookout Trail hike, the bridge where they filmed “The Lost Boys”, the Griffith Observatory, the Venice Canals, the Roosevelt Pool, and the Bronson Bat Caves. And of course I wouldn’t forget about the beaches! My favorites are; El Matador State Beach, Santa Monica Pier, and anywhere in Malibu. One of my very favorite restaurants is Pace in Laurel Canyon so I take everyone there. When I walk in it has that Norm from “Cheers” feeling for me – and now with the outdoor seating it’s quite a romantic little spot for dates. As far as nightlife & drinking goes… I did put a full bar in my house and have a beautiful backyard so I often have my friends over. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m so lucky to have family and friends that have always supported and pushed me. My parents have always pushed me to pursue any avenue I’m headed toward at the moment no matter how crazy it is, my sister has always given me solid advice, and my little brother always lends his expertise to whatever ideas I have. My girlfriends along with my business partner, Jake Deptula, are the first ones in line to get the “I have an idea…” text and encourage me to go for it. And a special shoutout to Kast Media who believed in my podcast idea and propelled it to success!
The other person in the photos is my business partner and co-host of my podcast “Strictly Stalking”, and my dog is Cabo 😉
