We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalen Ty’ron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalen, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking some risks is the only way to “live”, to me. If you’re always in a place of comfort and complacency, then you will never fully realize your true power. I took a huge risk four years ago by moving here to LA at 18 yrs old because I believed that there was a chance that I could be the person I saw in my dreams. No, every day is not sunny and I want to give up sometimes but my love for what I do will always be bigger than my uncertainty. And seeing where/who I am today, I will always applaud my bravery. Conquering risks is one of the best feelings ever, especially if the odds aren’t in your favor. I’m not saying go and do something crazy, but always be intentional. And stand firm in your decisions because the outside noise and doubt will always try to creep in.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been singing since I was 12 and acting even before then. It was something about when I used my voice, in whichever way, I saw had an effect on people. I grew up singing in church and school choirs. But my main musical influence has to be John Legend. I always knew I loved to sing, but when I heard him for the first time I knew I wanted to make music. So, after my high school graduation, I moved to LA to attend a performing arts college in Hollywood. I earned my bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in October of 2020. In school, I was trained in many singing, acting, & dance styles. I grew exponentially as a performer. I released my first single “Dance With Me” on all platforms last year & during the process of making it, I learned even more. Throughout college & my journey as a solo artist, a lot of my weaknesses were brought to the surface. They made me question myself a lot as an artist and what I was doing with my life. And though in those vulnerable, scary moments I wanted to quit, I always returned to it. If you love it & you deem it worth it; always return! Because that’s how you grow & get better. I only want to share my heart with & inspire people.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely go to the beach. I would also take them on some cool hikes & rides through really nice neighborhoods like Bel Air and the hills to see celebrity’ houses. To eat/drink, I would take them to Sunset Grill, Kitchen 24, Bibibop, Grand Central Market, farmer markets & the Halal Guys >>>. We would also try to find places with live music and open mics. Anywhere that’s a vibe tbh.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to the Holy Spirit! I’m a firm believer that I’m good on my own, but with God, I’m everything. He qualifies me each and every day. He orders my steps and extends the most unconditional grace I’ve ever seen/felt. Even when I miss the mark, He’s right there to pick me up again. And the crazy part is, I did nothing to deserve it. With Him, I’m always more than enough!
