We had the good fortune of connecting with Jameice “Yoshi” Cockrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jameice “Yoshi”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I always wanted to show everyone how important it is to believe in yourself. Also, wanted to show that anything is possible no matter where you come from. Regardless to what you have or don’t have you can still achieve ANYTHING. I come from an era of great music and one of a kind inspirations and creators such as Martin Lawrence, Beyonce, Dame Dash, Jay Z, Kanye West, Will Smith & so many more! I motivate those to start a business simply because I learned to love myself through the journey of growing my business. I achieved the traits Ive always wanted to have and challenge myself everyday to become better and better. I really want this for the culture, for the world! Always remember “When you believe you will achieve.”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Jameice Cockrell and I am a results-oriented and passionate leader with extraordinary communication and delegation skills and the important ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Having worked as a senior mentor, volunteer director, marketing manager, photographer, marketing strategist, videographer, creative director for more than 5 years, It all started with a pen and a notebook at the age 10. I am fully equipped with the tools needed for all aspects of the job. I excel at maintaining an all-time great customer satisfaction with provided services, coordinating various daily business operations, and developing new pricing models. I generate excitement, engagement, and enthusiasm among customers through services, activities, workshops, and events. Empowering customers to learn, create, and share so they can fully explore how their personal interests can come to life using my strategies. I love creating hands-on customer experiences that enable others to get the most out of the entrepreneur ecosystem. As a creative I am skilled to illustrate how a personal interest or hobby can be brought to life using social media technology. Being apart of the creator family meaning I create first. It is imperative that you all know my capability of maintaining knowledge of new products, technologies, and trends to facilitate relevant workshops and activities.
I love identifying what excites customers and what is of interest in the each local community. Prior to working for myself I have experience in planning and promoting workshops effectively to improve attendance and engagement for ongoing services and products. Mentorship is so important I truly believe in “each one teach one”. My qualifications are seek, analyze, interpret, and act on feedback from peers improve the experience. When event planning for the community in Ward 7 Washington DC, engaging workshops were executed and coordinated by myself. I can demonstrate familiarity with internal and external resources available for customers who want to expand their technical knowledge. I am a well rounded employee, I don’t limit my skill set, additional support and service functions within the service and training environment.

I am not perfect and my journey has its ups and its downs. Always remember life is about “perspective” and never forget that happiness is a choice! If you don’t choose happiness you don’t want to be happy!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends come in town, we walk the strips on U st in NW and also Adams Morgan which has a plethora of bars and restaurants. Mondays & Tuesdays we cebrate TACO TUESDAY! I stop and get shrimp nachos and a margarita from El Rey. Wednesdays & Thursdays I have a few happy hour favorites! Stan’s, Ruth Chris, El Rey, Pitchers DC, Kitchen Kray, Swingers, Stop Smacking, Timbuktu Restaurant &many more. Fridays & Saturdays are normally clubbing days, these are a few of my favs Rosebar, Decades, Wine & Slow Jams, Society Lounge, Hashtag Lounge(sometimes sunday nights), Abigail, Heist, Capitale, Living Room DC, Saint Yves, Bliss Nightclub, Opera Lounge and Empire Lounge. Sunday we would have to hit up the bests brunch spots in the city such as The Mad-hatter, Bens Next door, Sequoia DC, Commissary, Barcode, Open City, and or Milk & Honey Cafe. I love happy hour, and dining out not as much as I love to cook though. The most exciting places are the bars like Board Room, interactive bars we have a few here in DC. (pool halls etc)
