We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Glass and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
He who stands on tiptoe, doesn’t stand firm. He who rushes ahead, doesn’t go far. He who tries to shine, dims his own light. He who defines himself, can’t know who he really is. He who has power over others can’t empower himself. He who clings to his work, will create nothing that endures. -laozi This quote is ego shattering. Something about it seems like a secret.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always wanted a family business. My partners family started out custom costume design & showroom business in the 80’s. The brand is rooted in LA subculture, originally specialized in custom leather, dressing guns & roses, skid row, Pamela Anderson, Madonna, prince & many more icons. Today LA Roxx continues the trajectory in the creation of bespoke designs. More recently we have designed for lady gaga, sza, Rihanna, Beyoncé.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
-Huntington Gardens -point dume or further up the coast beach -Elf Restaurant -The LACMA & museum of death -Hiking Griffith Park or Angeles crest Highway drive -Vintage shopping at Painted Bird & Sleeper -People watching at the rose Bowl flea market -Tea at the the Getty Villa (I’ve never been so I don’t know if it’s good but selfishly want to go)
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My partner, Sharon Rahim who works harder than anyone I know. My mentor is Arianna Pistilli who taught me everything about surviving a creative life.
