We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamison Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamison, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I moved to LA, I was very fortunate to get hired at 2 amazing practices! I was able to learn under some incredible minds in the aesthetics industry and I was taught how to develop my own style, create a unique brand, and a cultivate a client base that I really connected with. Eventually, I decided that I wanted to be able to give my patients more of myself… more of the person that connected with them on such a personal and professional level… at a place that felt truly authentic to me and the brand that I’d built. A home where patients come to look AND feel their best and can’t wait to visit. It felt like the next logical step in my career to be able to truly blossom as an Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and become a leader in the industry.

What should our readers know about your business?
I opened my Aesthetics Practice in January of 2024 and it’s honestly, been an uphill battle getting to this point. I moved to Los Angeles in August of 2020 (during COVID). The industry was slow, there was already SO much competition, and I was new in town, so to even build a semi-decent client base took 3 years of intense hustling. I just couldn’t figure out how to balance making myself stand out while still being a good representative of the brands that I worked for. It seemed like no matter how hard I hustled, the return on investment just wasn’t hapening. Was it me? Was I not good enough? or was it just timing and circumstances? I eventually decided that if I was going to make a name for myself in the beauty capital of the country, I had to go all in. I had to try it my way and I knew I was either I was going to sink or swim and I had a feeling I was going to find out pretty quickly. Luckily, thanks to my amazing friends, patients, and mentors, it’s been going better than I possibly could have hoped for!

Getting to this point, I learned that the only way to be successful in any business is by staying true to yourself. I’m very different from other professionals in my field. I have a mohawk and tattoos and piercings. I love and embrace what makes me different. And that’s what I focus on in my business. My brand is about celebrating diversity and helping my patients feel good about the way they look based on what THEY want to see in the mirror, not based on what the internet or the rest of the industry says they should look like. My favorite thing to tell patients is “If it doesn’t bother you, it doesn’t bother me!”

I think that is what has set me apart from others in the industry. I don’t push too much and I’m not afraid to say “No, you don’t need that”. So many people are afraid of having aesthetic work done because they’ve seen so much bad work and they don’t want to look “different”. My approach to aesthetics gives people confidence that they’ll only ever look like the best version of themselves.

Many patients also find me very approachable. I wear a t-shirt with my logo, scrub pants, and tennis shoes that should’ve been replaced a long time ago every day to work. I look presentable and take care of myself, but I’m not over polished. I’m laid back, but professional. I make the process easy, but I also educate my patients extensively in ways they’re able to easily understand.

It goes back to staying true to yourself. Because I embrace who I am and integrate it into my practice, my patients feel safe in my care and they trust me… and that’s the biggest honor I could ever hold.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I have visitors, I love taking them to the Arts District to have lunch and walk around looking at all of the giant murals. The creativity in this city is one of my favorite things about it. I also LOVE good music and dancing, so on weekends, I’m usually going out with friends to see some of the amazing DJs that come through town (especially if they’re a House DJ). Other stops would also be Yamashiro in Hollywood for some of the best views in the city and HotDog Sundays at El Cid in Silverlake, which is a weekly queer Sunday Funday event that always makes for great social time to end the weekend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Rand Rusher, who taught me everything I know, not just in terms of skill, but also in being an ethical provider who truly cares about every patient that walks in the door. I’d also like to give a shoutout to Anya Knower, a rockstar Aesthetic Consultant and one of my first managers when I moved to LA. She’s always believed in me, cheered me on, and has been a vital part of helping me get my business started!
