We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Coveto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I remember in the very beginning when I first decided to go into business , my mind was glued to my work. A lot of sleepless hours and a lot of putting my personal life to the side. The motivation and work ethic when you’re building a brand and a company requires a lot of personal time and effort. You need to be around people that are supportive and understanding. To this day I still have a very supportive network of people around me. But that’s not to say that some people won’t understand . I definitely eased up a bit now a days And have dedicated more time to my personal relationships and overall mental health which I think is very important sometimes when you’re focused on accomplishing a goal . Sometimes it tends to become an obsession without even knowing it and you loose sight around what’s going on in the world around you . It has to be the perfect balance too much of something is never good.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Coveto the brand was born out of my love for fashion . Having gotten my start in the entertainment industry. I was exposed early on to everything that revolved around imaging and branding . Everything about my journey has been self-taught. It’s all been hands-on from fashion shows to award shows that I’ve been fortunate to attend/be a part of . To me the hardest part has definitely been a learning process since I never had formal training or schooling in fashion . It all just came to me along the way and it’s still a learning process to this day but I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Lately I’ve been traveling a lot even during pandemic times. But when I am in town I love to keep low key . I tend to be more of an introvert and lately I’ve been feeling less social than usual. But a late night stroll for some food in Hollywood never seems to disappoint.Still limited due to things being closed down because of the pandemic otherwise finding inspiration in museums is a must.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I credit a lot of my understanding of the business in the entertainment and fashion industries To my beloved friend and mentor Kiev “ Tinman “ Campbell , May he rest in piece . He was an early on believer in my vision and manifesting everything we’re doing today with our companies and plans for global expansion in the future.
