We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasaan Dabney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasaan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For me it came down to this being the easiest way to help family and friends better understand how the stock market and how real estate markets actually work. Finances in general. from 2020 up until January of this year, the market (both real estate and the rock market) were on auto pilot. You didn’t need much technical experience, or even an understanding to profit from it. Everyone was a “pro“. When the downturn began, friends and family who are invested in the markets couldn’t understand what was going on. Inundated with calls texts and emails, with pretty much all of the same questions, I figured it was much easier to begin making short form content for everyone to consume at their leisure. The goal was to create it in the most simple terms that even a child could understand. I think I’ve done that so far

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Meet Jasaan came about out of an abundance of love and help from friends and family. I was often introduced to people and it would go something like “Meet Jasaan, he’s who you can talk to about ……” A lot of dots have been put together and by people who thought it was important for me and the other person to connect.

What started out as me just helping friends and family better understand the stock market, helping friends and family buy and sell their homes, help children better understand finances from an every day stand point – has morphed into a full-time content creation machine.

What separates me from others in the space is my delivery. Finance, and stocks are intimidating to most people. My niche is simplifying complex subject and making them easy enough for children to understand.

Speaking of children I am working on a financial literacy book for children. It’s geared towards making children proficient in understanding how money works at the earliest age possible. I can’t count how many times I run into people or I’ll get feedback from people saying how they wish they knew this at an earlier age. So we’re going to close the gap there, and I’m very excited about it!

I’ve been an active participant in real estate for close to 20 years now. What makes me most proud is that I’m trusted to help people make, what for many is the biggest decision of their lives. I’m really big on education, so I go above and beyond in that department.

I’ve been actively trading stocks and options for seven years now, and let me tell you the learning curve for that is steep. That was my biggest challenge. The experiences and lessons it took me to learn is what I’m able to pass down to traders. I’m able to shave off half the time it takes to learn through my teachings.

Something that I’m also a part of is my brothers company Unoma Haus. Centered around off great sustainable living. It’s really cool because it’s very real estate related just in a unconventional form, or not what people are used to. I most recently got to build a van with him hands on from start to finish and that is awesome. It’s something that’s going to change the world.

My brand, my mission, my story is centered around hard work and putting in the hours. Not only am I a firm believer that the amount of reps you get up is a direct correlation to the outcome you deserve, but that it’s actually impossible not to get better at something you do over and over and over again. My routine more or less has been the same for 10+ years and because of it, is the direct result of my success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a good question – whether you came on vacation to work out or not if you stay with me very first thing we’re going to do is exercise we’re gonna push our body and make it uncomfortable to start the day. Then we can get going.

I’m a Westside guy, I’ve lived on the Westside my entire life so we probably start with breakfast over at Metro Café in Culver City, hang out in Manhattan Beach or Venice (because you can never get too much of the beach), I love Mexican food so we’d end up at Sol or one of the new spots like Esperanza.

I love people watching so somewhere like the Whaler is perfect. Ca also catch the best sunsets there. But everything would flow from the west before making our way anywhere else.

In my opinion some of the funnest things to do are drive to place just outside the city and take in nature. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. On one end we have great beaches. From Malibu to Palos Verdes to Newport. Go an hour the other way and we have big bear and Mt. High where the snow lasts months, pivot the other way and you can hit Joshua Tree or Palm Springs to unplug for a bit. If you plan it right you can do it all in a day. I don’t think there’s any place like that in the world.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I don’t have much family but I have a support system of about 10 people who are second to none. It’s too many to name they know who they are but will call them the Roundtable. My brother Vaughn has also been instrumental in helping me get a lot of the things going and pushing me to create and share the information that I’ve been sharing with people for years more outwardly
