Meet Jasmin Mueller | Architecture, Interior Design & Illustration

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmin Mueller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmin, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe risk is essential for real growth. If a decision doesn’t feel a little scary, it probably isn’t worth making. After college, I moved to Los Angeles for an architecture job, even though I had no network, no money or any expectations. It was uncertain, but I chose growth over comfort, and it launched my career. Later, rather than returning home, I chose to work from Mexico, today still a bold personal gamble. Those experiences taught me that stepping into the unknown consistently builds my confidence, adaptability, and creative edge.
Risk for me isn’t always apparent in the moment, I often don’t realize I’m taking one until later, when I reflect and recognize how far I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone.
I wouldn’t be where I am today without having taken these risky steps in my life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
jDStudio is a Los Angeles based architecture and interior design studio offering full-scope services across residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. With roots in Germany and a strong foundation in European design sensibility, I bring a unique perspective to the wor, balancing refined aesthetics with a practical, client-centered approach. That mix of cultural influences helps me translate diverse visions into thoughtful, functional, and visually distinctive spaces.
What sets jDStudio apart is the combination of a clear design voice and a deep understanding of each client’s goals. I strongly believe that good design isn’t about following trends, it’s about creating environments that feel intentional, immersive, and aligned with the people who use them. Whether it’s a restaurant, retail space, or creative studio, the work is always collaborative and tailored.
The studio is still young, and that’s part of what makes it exciting. I’ve been able to shape it with fresh energy, curiosity, and a hands-on approach. Every new project is an opportunity to refine the process, deepen collaborations, and build something meaningful. Starting something independently always comes with a learning curve, but I see it as a challenge I genuinely enjoy.
One key lesson I’ve learned is that design is never a solo effort, it’s always rooted in teamwork, collaboration, and shared vision.
What I’d like people to know about jDStudio is that we lead with purpose. Every phase of the project, from concept to completion, is rooted in transparency, communication, and design integrity. We’re not here to just make things look good; we’re here to make them work beautifully.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I actually have a lot of friends and family visiting me in LA, so I’ve built a bit of a go-to itinerary over time. One of my favorite things to do is take them to the restaurants I’ve had the chance to design, it’s such a personal way to show them the city. We’d definitely visit BLVD Steak in Sherman Oaks or Calabasas, and Washington Square Pizza in Venice, which always has a great vibe.
For a daytime adventure, I love taking people on the Wisdom Tree hike, it’s a beautiful trail behind the Hollywood Sign with one of the best views in LA, especially for first-timers. Later in the evening, we’d go for cocktails at The Edition in West Hollywood or the Proper Hotel in Santa Monica, both have great interiors and a relaxed, stylish atmosphere. And for a more low-key but classic LA night out, I’d wrap up the evening at The Roger Room, which has amazing cocktails and a cozy, hidden feel.
I also never skip a stop at Westfield Century City Mall, it’s perfect for some upscale shopping and people-watching. And for a more local, easygoing day, I’d take them to the Farmers Market and The Grove, which always feels festive and full of energy. It’s a mix of design, food, and LA culture that really gives people a feel for the city through my own lens.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to start by thanking my family. They’ve always let me follow my own path—even when it was uncertain or unconventional. I’m sure they were just as scared as I was at times, but not every parent is that supportive, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
I also want to thank my friend:Marcus, Karlie, Taryn, and Laura, and more for being a constant source of inspiration and for standing by me through every chapter.
And finally, I’d like to thank my boyfriend, who patiently listens to every thought, challenge, and plan I throw his way. His support means more than words can say.
