We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Denise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think of risk as a sacrifice, you can only give what you put out. A lot of time risk taking can be challenging, especially when you’ve only taken a risk to a certain extent. With risk taking it levels, you have the small risk that gives you comfortability and wiggle room and then you have the big risk (the all or nothing). The big risk is putting it all at the table and not knowing what you have to fall back on, or what the outcome may be. Risk is a part of life and sometimes risk needs to be made when it comes to life and careers. Having faith is taking risks. It took me some time to take risks in the film business, it was a little struggle to really pull the trigger and take the risk in filmmaking. However, when you’re surrounded by people with strong faith and believe in you and you believe in the vision or yourself, you’re going to do it. In my career you win some and you lose some and that’s a part of dream chasing; however, I don’t give up. I’m a part of a successful independent film company called Ryda 4 Life Filmz and the risk has got us being multi-award winners. I produced over 5 Films, I’ve won best actress in my comedy web series Eugima’s Village and best web series. As long as I continue to speak my affirmation and have faith all my risk is worth it. Don’t be afraid to take the risk, when you are scared don’t take the risk. When you have complete faith and are positive about the risk, TAKE IT, you will win. Remember, you are what you think about all day long. Successful people take risks.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’m an actress, model and film producer from South Central LA. I’m my own unique person and I set my own trend. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in my acting career, it has been a journey and just to see the accomplishments of the award-winning films I produced is priceless. If it wasn’t for a great friend of mine sending me my first audition flyer I wouldn’t be acting. When you have people in your corner that believe in you, it makes you go after whatever it is. My journey was not easy and I wouldn’t want it to be easy, I believe all warriors go through trial and error to get where they are. I overcome all challenges by inviting them in and embracing it, with faith all things are possible. The lessons I’ve learned through the process is to not lose sight of who you are as a person. Have faith even when things seem hopeless, keep on pushing and set no limits. I want the world to know Jasmine Denise as a game changer, a unique multi-talented artist and creator whose mission is to inspire and touch lives.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week-long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
That’s a tough one to choose, because in my city it’s a lot of places. I would definitely take them Louisiana Fried chicken. Now chilis, wokcano, because they have some great drinks and food. Another place would be New Moon. They definitely have some delicious Chinese food and drinks. Honestly everything is fun, it’s all on how you make it fun. You set the scenery.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to JayTee Thompson who introduced me to filmmaking, he is a dope director, actor and creator. He brings out the hidden powers/gifts in people. It’s amazing. He is a true inspiration. I also want to shout out Kreativ Educare, Destiny Walker, my family and friends who continuously support me. I love and appreciate you all.
