We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Simone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
if I were asked this question 5 years ago when I went into business, I’d say Work life balance was easy and I had it all figured out. However, it has changed for me in the last year because I just had another baby. It was a lot easier with my other children because they’re in their teens, but starting over and being a new mom while in entrepreneurship has been quite challenging. I worked up until I was 39 weeks pregnant and came back to work when he was a month old. I didn’t realize how challenging it would be starting over and doing it while I had my own business. As a business owner, you don’t really have the luxury of taking time off of work and still getting paid to cover ongoing expenses. During the 8 weeks I took off for bonding time, I spent a lot of time working on a new plan to rebrand my business. So when I came back I knew what direction I was headed in and what all I needed to do to make sure I spent enough time with my family, myself and pouring into my business.

I think now that my son is 1 years old, I have figured out the balance with work, making sure I still spend time with my family on top of making sure I set enough time out for myself. Before it was just work, home, family and I had spread myself so thin, I started to become depressed and that started to affect work.

Now that I’ve been open in my new location for 3 months, I have created a schedule that works out for me. I have my shop open Thursday-Sat and that gives me the time to take care of any errands, take my children out, go on vacation, and not feel too burnt out from work and not having enough “me time”

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m most excited about my new salon, Richesse Aesthetics!! I decided to rebrand after 5 years because I wanted a new feel, I had a vision of marble flooring and providing my customers with a better experience than I had been providing them. My main focus now is luxury skincare. I offer hydra facials and specialize in chemical peels and other skincare treatments. I service teens, men and women.

I am most proud of my drive. I continue to grow no matter how hard things have been for me. Things that were sent to destroy me, have only made me stronger and just to Iook back and see the amount of growth I’ve made, is amazing.

I overcame challenges by trusting in God and believing everything happens for a reason and it only lasts a season.

Lessons that I’ve learned along the way are not sharing my goals with others. I used to over share with people and I realized not everyone was actually rooting for me and wanted to see my successes.

I want the world to know that I worked so hard to achieve this. I was a 15 year old parent that overcame barriers to reach Success. Success does not happen over night, but it happens for those who don’t give up.

I chose Richesse because it means “Richness and wealth” in French. I’ve been blessed to become Rich in the spirit that God continues to bless me to reap the fruits of my labor. Richesse Aesthetics, is not just a place you come to get a service, It’s a calm environment where people can come to relax and unwind.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some fun places that I enjoy are the winery, the beach, I enjoy attending Black on the Block; they have some amazing vendors and vibes. I definitely am going to south coast plaza to do some shopping. To end things, we’re going to Joey’s Newport Beach. I love the atmosphere and food.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely like to shoutout my partner, Elliott, he’s my rock and main supporter. I’ve spent countless nights talking his ear off with ideas and visions that I have because I want so much more. He continues to be positive and show so much support, even when I haven’t believed in myself.

I also have joined a mentorship group SpaRX. Antinese is the founder of the group and she’s been such a great vessel. I’ve been able to connect with other women in the beauty industry and we’re able to discuss things and get tips from one another while showing endless support. Antinese has shared a little of her story and we share similar experiences and to see how much she’s thrived in the beauty industry no matter the circumstances; really motivates me to keep going and to go even harder!

I also want to thank my mom for words of encouragement and trusting my vision with Richesse Aesthetics. I couldn’t of done it without her.
