We had the good fortune of connecting with Javelle Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Javelle, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I think about risk I get excited, to me risk is the one thing that is standing in your way from doing something you love. We as creatures are extremely reliant on comfort but, with comfort comes missing out on new opportunities often times new opportunities that are going to push you to the next stage of success. Risk to me is a good thing, not just risk but a calculated risk!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For me work has been something that I need to enjoy to be fulfilled but something that sets me apart from people would have to be my idea to keep thinking even if the project is “finished”, I am always thinking of new ways to elevate something. I think for me the joy is in the journey of it, not so the finished project. While, it is important I think it’s also super important as to how we got there. I think for me I am still doing it, still eager to grow, learn and stretch my mind when it comes to my line of work. I think it’s also important to just get involved in anything that you have a passion for or are naturally drawn to, if you have an itch…..scratch it!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okayyyyy! This one is fun, so if my best friend was visiting the area for a week long trip I would give them the Old LA special, making them stay at either The Sunset Tower Hotel or The Chateau Marmont. For eating, see that’s hard I would say just walk around and try everything, Ktown, downtown, and even the Westside have great great food options. For drinks I think cocktails at dinner and then hitting probably west hollywood and silver lake would be my recommendations.
In my view the most interesting places are the places that you find randomly and they end up being such a vibe, like walk around the arts district closer to the Blue Bottle on Mateo and go to all the little art galleries. Another place that I would recommend would be the new Camel Coffee in Silverlake!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In my success I think my friends and family around me keep me motivated and inspired to keep going. An organization outside of my own personal realm of people would have to be people I look up to and think they are inspiring and that pretty much is anyone that responds differently and choose they’re own path regardless of what they have been through.
