We had the good fortune of connecting with Javonte Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Javonte, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
How I feel about risk taking is I encourage risk taking , it’s part of growth. Putting the fear behind you and being out of your comfort zone. Taking risk is being uncomfortable and being comfortable isn’t growing.
Risk taking played a BIG role in my life. Being on my own since I was 16 years old forced me learn how to take risk early on. I’ve normalized taking risk lead me to my growth and my success. The Role that risk taking has played in my life and my career we definitely a challenge in the beginning, but as I have grown into the man that I am today. I walk hand in hand with taking risks. This mind set allows me to fearlessly continue to grow and accomplish my goals. Taking risk at such a young age has molded me to the man I am today.
Risk Taking is being ok with change and adapt. It’s always unpredictable and you have to be willing to adjust.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Many of you know me as Javonte Rose. I also like to go by BLU. I’ve always been a creative since a young age. I love fashion and putting different pieces together. In high school I’ve won best dressed, so you know I’ve started young. What got me to where I am today was my strength and ambition. At a young age I’ve always told myself I’m going to be something bigger and better then my childhood and I never gave that up. As a child my life has taken many turns. Growing up, i was bullied about my looks, my style, and overall demeanor. Where some young people finds respite at home, that was not the case with myself. I had a very difficult relationship with my mother that led to me being homeless at 15. Since the age of 16, I’ve worked to support myself and in spite of the enormity of my circumstances, graduated from high school six months early at 17. A very grateful and humble thing. I credit my success to the warmth of good friends and my faith. “I knew God was with me, and I vowed to never give up because I knew He heard – and hears – my prayers.” In 2016 I started a movement for Anti-Bullying and Self – Love Called ( IM HERE! ) it’s to stand up for yourself , be bold , be you. I was featured in my first magazine with Bold Favor Magazine featured outside of Atlanta. Shortly after that I wrote my first book called BEHIND THE BLUE EYES IM HERE! Shares and tells my story what I went through and how I overcame those situations. Motivating and inspiring others to never give up. In that same year I started my own company THE BLU ROZE , that’s where I sell my merch and my book.
I’ve always learned to treat people how you would want to be treated and be yourself. I want to the world to know that no matter what you got going on , there’s a light at every tunnel. Never give , stay strong and keep your head held high.
Follow my movement #imhere #thebluroze
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First off CALIFORNIA has so many places to visit , so you definitely want to spread it out. One day we will pack the car up with lots of goods and take a drive down to El matador beach. Visit the caves and the beautiful ocean waves. Have a beautiful lunch along the way before the sunset. We would take a drive down to Santa Monica Pier and hop on some rides and enjoy a nice ice cream before the night ends. Next day we would take a ride down to Melrose Ave and hit the shopping stores, before we shop though we gotta stop at Blu Jam Cafe or Brite Spot depending on availability. They have the best breakfast you can ask for. I would definitely take a ride down to Palm Springs and show off the beautiful mountains and scenic views. After a nice swim and long hike , hit the bars to have a good and relaxing evening. After being in California over 3 years there’s a place you must go to and thats Catalina Island. That’s a place like no other. We would hit the restaurants , ride the golf cart around the island, take a underwater submarine and see the beautiful sea life and end it with 5 course zip line.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First things first: Thank you God.
Thank you for always providing and answering my messages. Without you, as a child, I may have given up.
I would like to thank my mom. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be here today. I love for you that. I also want to say thank you for always believing and accepting me. I know we’ve been through hell and back, but you always said you were so proud of me. I love you. And don’t worry, I never gave up on you either. You only have one MOM . I LOVE YOU!!!
Amani: you are my WORLD, my #1. You taught me so much in life. You were and remain always by my side. You’ve been there for me in my craziest moments. I lived more than half my life with you. Thank you for never giving up on me. Thank you for still being you and loving me when I let you down. I’m SORRY! I love you AMANI.
To my Auntie Michelle: you’ve taught me how to love. You taught me to think big and positive, to treat people how they should be treated – with love and care. You’ve always treated everyone and everything with respect and kindness; I admire that about you. You’re my LIFE. Thank you for coming to my rescue as a child. I wouldn’t have asked to be with anyone else. I love you Auntie – thank you
Thank you to my older sister Jessica. You’ve been my right hand since I was a kid, always there for me on my worst days, always listening when I needed a shoulder to cry on. You were there when I was getting beat, feeling my pain and knowing what I was going through. You are my secret. I love you and thank you.
Thank you to all MY REAL FRIENDS, my family and Supporters . Thanks for always believing in me. Thanks for pushing me to go further. Without a push from a friend, life can feel so hard and overwhelming. Thank you guys.
Mrs Lynita Blackwell. You’ve helped create this big moment in my life. I can’t thank you enough for ALL the work done and patience shown me by you and your family. Just listening to your voice pushes me to strive to do better. Thank you for believing in me and my vision. Thank you for NEVER giving up on me. You’ve also treated and talked to me as one of your own. Thank you for listening and understanding my life. I could not have done it without you.
