We had the good fortune of connecting with Jax Malcolm and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jax, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
In the last two years I have added meditation to my daily routine. I actually use the Calm App so I have daily meditations ready for me to use daily. Since adding meditation to my routine I have seen dramatic changes in my ability to focus on tasks and keep calm when challenges come my way.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently I’m really excited about the expansion of my career into writing and producing. “The Listening” a feature film horror script I completed during quarantine here in Los Angeles has been selected as a semi-finalist at both New York Cinematography Awards (NYCA) and the Fantastic Indie Festival of Los Angeles. This is my first try at writing a script and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the positive reception I’ve received.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in the city center on fun with my friends. I would definitely take them to Knott’s Berry Farm for one their boysenberry tasting events and fried chicken at Mrs. Knott’s, Raging Waters has hosted several of my birthday parties and they are one of the best places to ride the flumes in SoCal, Erin McKenna’s bakery for the best vegan treats in the city (I have a dairy allergy so I can’t eat regular baked goods), and since we are still going through the pandemic we’d go to WE-DRIVE INS in Santa Monica to catch a movie.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My manager Mireille Wilson with Midwest Talent Management has been a main support in my career as an actor, writer, and producer. She has always been open and willing to hear my ideas and help me refine them to put them into action. We’ve been working together for more than 10 years now and she’s a main ingredient to my success.
