We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Newz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jay, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be that I cared about:
I want people to remember me as a go getter! Someone who never gave up on their dreams. Always did solid business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a radio host for Dash Radio. The Show name is called “Not Rated Radio”. What I’m most proud of when it comes to being a radio host, is the ability to have a platform for upcoming creators. From music artist, actors, models, ect. As being a artist I seen how hard it is to get exposure. With me hosting. I can now give myself and other creators a platform to be heard.
How i got my show and became a host at dash radio. Was a long & hard process. I had to intern for a year with Dash radio Comedy. As a intern I learned how to became a news personality. From there I went on to getting my show with Dashradio “Dash Discover channel “
Some lessons I learned along the way, everyone is not going to have the same vision for your dream. So many times I heard I should give up or just do something else. But keeping my focus made me who I am now.
I want the world to know about that story as being a intern and having to work from the bottom and in another field to get what I really wanted to do. Anything is possible. You just have to believe and work.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The only place I can really say is my favorite place in LA. Would be going to the beach. I’m a Real scenery type of person.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to my mom. Doneva Rawls, for always being by my side. And believing in me.
