We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayme Lanai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayme, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The Beautē Lab represents the importance of always living your truth and being your most authentic self, loving yourself and being confident in your own skin. As a Skin Therapist and Makeup Artist I love to enhance natural beauty and emphasize that natural skin glow. I never like to pile on the makeup or alter my clients natural beauty and cover up what makes them unique. I always try to equip my clients with the knowledge and tools to achieve healthy skin through proper skincare and healthy lifestyle changes. I also emphasize that makeup should be treated as a tool to enhance beauty and not create an image that isn’t true to their identity. My goal is that every client that leaves The Beautē Lab feels glowy, confident and beautiful in their own skin! A confident person is unstoppable.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
With almost 10 years of experience in the beauty industry I wouldn’t say my journey has been “easy” but I am so thankful for every single hurdle I’ve overcome. This industry is constantly changing from makeup styles, trendy looks and techniques to skincare tools and new technology, there is ALWAYS something new to learn. I had many doors close for me before the right ones were opened. When I first started my Beauty career there was a Makeup brand I wanted to work with so bad, they turned me down and I was devastated, a few months later I was picked up by one of the worlds best skincare brands and have partnered with them the last 5 years and I couldn’t be more thankful for their extensive education and opportunities they’ve provided. I’m saying all that to say “what’s for you will always be for you” I find comfort in that statement especially in this industry. I want the world to take away from my story to always be your authentic self and have faith that with effort you can achieve whatever you want.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My bestie is coming to town we are definitely about to step out and show out! I love a good bar or lounge and we love some good food! We’d most likely head down to the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego. On the way there a quick trip to the different winery’s in Temecula to get the party started. The scenery is beautiful and it’s not to expensive. While in San Diego the Gaslamp fish house is a must for fresh seafood. The bars down there are a blast, Prohibition Lounge is a good time with good music we’d probably get a couple martinis if we’re really trynna turn up but make it classy! The next few days we’d probably find somewhere to get some massages because self care is always a priority with us and we’ll end up on a boat or laid out on the beach to end our trip. The nightlife in San Diego is so much fun, definitely recommend everyone to check it out!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Growing up my moms work ethic has always been unmatched. She worked all day then went to school all night for years until she got her degree and landed her dream job. Witnessing that drive my entire life always encouraged me to keep working and see everything through. As a young girl I always knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry and eventually own a salon of my own. My entire family knew I would be in the beauty industry , I would play beauty shop with all my barbies and insisted painting their faces with makeup or marker! My family always supported me and did everything in their power to help me achieve my goals.
