We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Doby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was and will always be to heal and teach. Through my many years I’ve always been drawn to healing modalities and in my younger years I actually was a teacher. I enjoyed teaching but I moved on to further pursue more healing and figure out how I can combine the two. Through combining healing and teaching Oh My Yoni Be… was born.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is based on simple self-care. So often we have these rigorous rituals that can be daunting to do daily. So, creating things that are still ritualistic but easy to apply to your daily life is the bases of Oh My Yoni Be.. soon to be VelamRice Herbs & Sh*t. Yes, I am in the middle of a rebranding and creating space for more items that feed the mind, body and spirit.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hit up a few of the beaches for a little people watching and catching that nice ocean breeze, Santa Monica beach and maybe even Malibu. Check out the Safari Wine tour in Malibu and get a good meal over looking the coast. Definitely check out some farmers markets. Stop at Cj’s Cafe on Pico, hit up Melanin Market, Zoes Vintique and Runway boutique for some retail therapy. Stop by Sip and Sonder for the tea and the vibes. Order off the weekly menu of Till The Last Bite and vibe out in Leimert Park to the beat of some African drums.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandfather, who taught me so much and fostered the healer in me, my mother, my niece Jordyn, family, friends and all those who have and continue to support my purpose.
