We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Escobar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmine, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“All is divine, take your time” has spoken a lot to me lately. Choosing to be patient and choosing to trust my process and my overall journey has done wonders. There is no rush for me, and no rush for anyone else because the stars will align you in the ways they were always meant to.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I honestly see nothing better than chasing my dreams and going after everything I want and deserve out of life. I’ve been dancing since the age of 4 and I plan on stopping no time soon. Growing up and trying to navigate my way through this “dance life” wasn’t always the easiest however, looking back I realized that every season served a purpose. I’m grateful for the experiences I was able to be blessed with. I’m grateful for all of my teachers/mentors who helped me along the way. I’m grateful for my parents, my family, and my entire support system for always pouring into me and supporting me. I’m grateful for all of the challenges I’ve had to face. I’m also grateful for where I am now and for all of the things that continue to come my way. I’m just filled with so much gratitude. June 2021 I decided to take the leap and relocate to LA from the DMV (Pg county, Maryland to be exact). I knew I always wanted to be on the westside but never knew “when” the right moment would be. To be honest, there never is a “perfect time” to do a life changing thing like moving across the country but when you know, you just know. Although I was super nervous I felt it in my spirit that I was ready and that was all the confirmation I needed. Fast forward to today, I’m beyond happy to be here!
I’m so proud of myself for continuously evolving into better versions of who Jazmine is as a human, as an artist. I’m so proud of myself for surrendering to the journey. It’s always been super important to me to remind myself that I don’t need to have everything figured out by a certain age in life. Everyone’s path is different and what works for another person may not work for me. I’ve learned that you should always expect nothing and appreciate everything. I’ve learned that it’s okay to start over. It’s okay to trust change. It’s okay to fall short because in the end you’ll stand tall. It’s okay to outgrow what no longer serves you. We only have one life to live so I’m going to continue to live it in the way I see fit for ME.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love LA because there’s so much to do. There’s so much to see. There’s so much to enjoy. I’m a water sign (team cancer!) so I love the beach. I enjoy Malibu a lot but I also really like going to Manhattan beach which is near where I live. I’d take my best friend there and then i’d take her to a BOMB place I like to eat at called “The Kettle” and the banana foster french toast is *CHEFS KISS* omg. We’d also go hiking, I feel like it gives me a peace of mind and it’s also a good way to explore LA, get some fresh air, and workout simultaneously. I love to eat so anywhere with good food and good reviews, we’re in there! I recently came across a hibachi place called “Hibachi Papi” and when I say its 10/10 I mean it! I love sight seeing so we’d definitely take a drive around LA and knowing us we’d make random stops whenever we come across something eye catching and def would hit up sprinkles because we all know the cupcakes understand the assignment 🙂
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family, my support system, and my abuelita who’s in heaven deserve all of the recognition. My WHY is bigger than me and I really just want to keep making them proud.
