We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazz Cassell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazz, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe taking risk is essential to personal growth, going outside of what is familiar/comfortable and experiencing the uneasiness of something new is the only way in my opinion to tap into our full potential. Taking risks in my career has pushed me off the cliff only to discover I can fly.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Jasmine Cassell (JazzEra) multifaceted artist rooted in Los Angeles, Ca. Art was never something I chose to do, it was a gift given to help me navigate my environment. I’ve struggled with crippling self doubt weighted by the fear of not being accepted and would often find comfort hiding inside my imagination. From childhood to early adulthood my natural abilities were sharpened by the knowledge accumulated over the years, art school being one of the most transformative experiences of my life. Majoring in advertisement specifically art direction gave me a new perspective on how I approach my craft. I gained a sense of confidence, self validation, and community that I’m still building upon to this day. Art has been my safe haven, my personal journey of self realization where I’m free to explore and express my complex emotions by honoring them. My art is not indented to entertain the masses it’s here to remind people the power in embracing your authentic nature.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would most definitely take my friend to the beach, hiking along the coast, uzumaki art gallery, thirtfing (Buffalo Exchange)and the skating rink.
