We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanae Pennington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeanae, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea of my business from being a former wardrobe stylist. I noticed while I was on sets styling people how important accessories were to complete a look. You can have a good outfit but if it doesn’t have the right earrings, or necklace, or sunglasses it is not complete. Accessories elevate your whole appearance in a unique way. I wanted to be part of that for people so it made sense to do an Accessories brand.

What should our readers know about your business?
Lucy J Accessories is different because we don’t want to be just another E-commerce brand. We provide you the best experience from the beginning to the time you receive your purchase from our website. We make it a priority to be accessible not just online but in person as well. We do monthly pop up experiences just to make that personal connection with people. Everything about our brand is an elevated experience. The merchandise is unique, the packaging is something that you can hold onto, and the customer experience is the best around.

I got to where I am today just by staying consistent. Working a full time job, having a personal life, and being involved in other passions is a full schedule. I noticed how badly I needed a team to help me build an empire. I gladly reached out to people on social media to see who would be interested in an Internship. Helping the next person that has the same passions and vision as I do has elevated my brand to new levels.

I want the world to know that Lucy J Accessories is a legacy. Lucy short for (Lucielle) is named after my great grandmother. She was strong, and always stylish that is what I want people to think of when they think of my brand. Carrying on a strong, and effortlessly stylish legacy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in LA are The Serving Spoon (Inglewood) for brunch, Zuma or Hermosa beach for majority of the day, and Perch (Downtown) for dinner. I also would go to Six Flags or Universal Studios for the day, i’m a big kid.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My dedication will have to go to the strongest woman in my lie, my mother Patti. My mom has always been an entrepreneur before I was even born she had her own hair salon. Balancing a music career, hair stylist, and business owner she still found the time to make it to all of my school performances, and show up for me in all aspects. I saw every sacrifice that she had to make in order to provide for her family. No matter how hard things got she never quit, she stayed consistent and committed to her craft and passions.
