Meet Jeanette JJ” Branch | Professional Stuntwoman

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanette “JJ” Branch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeanette “JJ”, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I learned very early in my life that in order to achieve extrodinary goals you have to take risks. When I moved to Los Angeles from New York, I drove 3 days across country. using an atlas with my route highlighted by a marker. There was no GPS. That was a huge risk. It was also one of the best decisions I made for myself. As a result, I ended up with a career that is fulfilling and feeds my soul. I thank God for giving me the courage to take those risk.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been a professional Stuntwoman for over 14 years. I have doubled some of Hollywood’s top actors like, Angela Basset, Niecy Nash-Betts, Mindy Kaling, and many more. I am most proud of the Franchise films I’m a part of, which are Captain America, The Fast and Furious, and The Hunger Games franchises which earned me several SAG AWARD nominations. I’ve learned that it pays to be multifaceted in this business. I am also a trained Actor, Writer and Producer who is truly in love with the art of telling amazing stories and expressing myself through this artistry creatively.
This business can and will eat you up. Lol. The ability to step into different lanes has blessed me tremendously. I have been hired as a Stunt Double and ended up with an acting role on the same show. I am so grateful for those types of opportunities. The key is to be prepared for them.
I am most excited about my production company, Branching Out Media and the team of producers I partnered with to bring some very important stories to light, Including the story of a High School that is very dear to me. With all the changes that is rapidly happening within this business, I feel it’s my time to spread my wings even more to ensure I’m in control of how my career continue forward.
On my YOUTUBE channel I love sharing my personal journey of finding love and helping others to find it as well. My husband and I also share our challenges of the crazy Real Estate projects my husband and I have built.
It’s an exciting time in life to attempt ALL the things you want to achieve, that’s the journey I’m on and I’m excited about it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles has so many amazing places to eat and thing to do, It’s never a dull moment.
Their first day in town we would start the day with a walk at Runyon Canyon. No need for breakfast we can do that later in the week. I would take them to “Stuff I Eat” in Inglewood for lunch or at Alta Adams in West Adams.
I would definitely include riding bikes on Venice beach all the way to the Santa Monica Pier. It’s about 3 miles long and is a fun ride with lots to see including the beautiful coast.
For late night drinks we would head to “Firefly” in the valley because I’m not much of party goer so I would definitely suggest some low key options where we can just chill.
Before their stay is over I would be sure to take them on a trip to the Catalina Island to offer a different side of California’s vibe.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to SHOUT OUT my Mother, who always had my back no matter how unconventional my career choices were. She believed I could achieve whatever my heart desired, I am forever grateful to have had that type of love and nurturing from her. My Mother was the BEST. I also have to SHOUT OUT Niecy Nash Betts. She’s been such a huge part of my career. I’ve been her stunt double for over 10 years and those years have been the BEST of my career. Her loyalty is unmatched. She is encouraging and supportive. She is truly one of one in this industry.
