Meet Jeantel Carter | Mompreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeantel Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeantel, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Never giving up! As I approach my 1 year anniversary of being a business, I have been reflecting on where I was when I started and where I am now. I found the most important factor of my success was the fact I never gave up. There were plenty of times I wanted to stop because I wasn’t getting the sales, or maybe even the support I expected to get from certain people. However, now that I have a family I knew that quitting wasn’t an option!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
my business was born out of a personal need for myself during a pandemic! Still being a new wife of two years, and a soon to be mom I needed something that would keep my life organized, but also something that was customizeable. My life journal was born, and I was soon promoting it to friends and family. It became something more than I had planned, and I decided to roll with it. I soon began creating planners, notebooks, and marble dipped mugs.
The fact that I can customize a product for my customers is what I used as leverage to set me apart from my competition. Because most people like to feel like a product is made for them, and want to feel special! So it made me excited when my customers loved what they purchased from me!
This road definitely wasn’t easy, just for the simple fact that this industry of stationary was all new to me. I came from a fashion background! So the creative aspect came easy, learning a new craft of making stationary products was the new challenge. Primarily everything I sell, I design, and make by hand! Let’s just say using my products as well as selling them was something I had to do in order to stay organized and on top of everything. I am a one woman show, and I manage everything. From creative design, project management, social media, marketing, ecommerce design, and everything else in between.
Since opening my business I have learned the importance of time management, organization, and the power of giving myself grace!! I do so much and always want to satisfy everybody, that I had to realize I can’t do it all. I am human, not superwoman. So I had to know when I needed to stop & not keep pushing myself past my limits. Something I feel like naturally as women, we don’t always know how to do. So I had to work past my own natural mechanics of how us as women are programmed, but then I also had to fight past my own battle of always wanting to be “perfect”. I never want to disappoint, but if it’s at the expense of my own peace – I choose peace.
So with my business I want to be able to help others get organized in their life, but in a stylish and personalized way. However, I also want people to pull away from my brand inspiration and motivation to take care of themself. As a wife, mother, and entrepreneur I wear a lot of hats, but can forget about the most important person – Jeantel. So I aspire to grow an empire, but still keep true to myself at the end of the day!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am always big on trying new things and going to new places I have never been before. So a lot of times I am hoping on yelp, or Instagram to find some new and exciting things to try. Some top places I would take a friend from out of town would definitely not be your usual spots, but something different and fun. For dinner we would go to Barton G’s, an out of this world dining experience that is creative and quirky in its menu selections. For drinks, I would say The Varnish, which is a secret speakeasy! Place to hang out and just vibe, The Last Bookstore. Definitely not your usual place to go, but it’s an experience for sure

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out the big G-O-D, because he gives me the gifts & talents I have to do what I do. To my parents! They have supported me in all my crazy ideas, business ventures & beyond! I wouldn’t be where I am without them. To my husband, for stepping in as my support system & cheerleader. To my son, for putting the flame under my butt to keep going.
