We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Garner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At the time of inception, I was working as Creative Director at Stiletto Entertainment who represented Barry Manilow, Fleetwood Mac, and others…One would say I was on my way in LA. However, my gut led me down a new path of desiring to help bring about a shift in conscious in fashion. Thus I began my journey with Prophetik designing couture and wearable garments out of natural fabrics and plant based dyes and what a journey it has been!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Fashion can be very fickle especially if centered around trend and commerce. I design for art’s sake and use natural fabrics that are more difficult to cultivate and shape and use plant based dyes that took about eight years of mad science testing and learning to master. Obstacles are things one sees when they take their eyes off their goals. I believe in manifesting vision every day. Stubbornness helped along with desire to have purpose in life to bring awareness to humankind that what one wears has a health implication to their body. Toxins, Petroleum based fabrics such as polyester, and carcinogenic chemicals found in stretch nylon, synthetic dyes etc should never be produced nor worn on the human skin ever. The synergy of effect of these toxins and chemicals absorbed into our skin can be deadly with cancers and other diseases especially our intimates. I have led this path to bring back the power of choice for the consumer. Despite all odds one should always move forward in their belief. As my Grandpa in the TN Smokey Mountains always told me “Jeff, Even a kick in the rear is a step forward.” Thank you Jack Garner.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Obviously I am more of a farm boy and prefer nature over city. Abbott Kinney is lovely especially the plant based restaurant called Plant Food + Wine. I would hit that on the way from the airport and maybe take a stroll along the blvd taking in some of the sustainable local stores. Then I would head to Malibu as I am a founding member of the Soho Little Beach House I would have dinner there for a lovely scene at the beach. I would have breakfast at my friend, Charlie Gay Stuart’s placed called The Real Coconut next to Whole Foods in Malibu serving conscious healthy options and hopefully catch a lovely chat with him as he is often there with great stories. Then I would hit the farmers market at the Malibu Fig Farm and go to the beach for surf and picnic. Maybe take in an afternoon sunset hike and following hit the Old Place for a rustic TN style dinner. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Garry Kief my first manager and mentor in the crazy Entertainment industry who taught me persistence and problem solving is the key. Jim Wilson my hippie dad in Malibu that taught me to stay in the higher consciousness and never settle. And a lovely read that has been my go to that is now out of print ‘The handbook for higher consciousness’
