We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Cervelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jen, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At Jennifer Cervelli Jewelry, I design and create timeless fine jewelry that’s rustic, ethical, and highly well-crafted for earth-conscious, free spirits because we believe in empowering others while saving the Earth! JCJ is passionate about cultivating a more ethical, transparent, and sustainable jewelry industry. All of our products are handmade with only recycled metals, conflict free precious gemstones, and promotes sustainability through green business practices. All our packaging is made from biodegradable or recyclable materials.
Jewelry is an object of beautiful adornment but it is also an object of deeper meaning. Jewelry can be inspiring. It can carry a message and tell your story. And most importantly, it can be powerful. Our goal is to strengthen the power of their wearers by empowering you to tell your story.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
All my designs are 100% handmade by me, using recycled metals and sustainable materials. Jennifer Cervelli Jewelry is designed for you to tell your unique story. Our jewelry will empower you and your voice. Each design is inspired by my life, my travels, and the people around me that I meet in the world. I have worked for a few designers before launching my business, and I am grateful to all that I learned from those designers. I was able to grow my business skills and that is something I am very proud of!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Hermosa Beach, and I love taking walks on the strand. There are so many awesome restaurants along the beach here. I also love heading out to the desert when I can – Joshua Tree is one of my favorite places in the world. The magic of the desert is so special.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family has been supporting my dream to be a metalsmith artist since day 1. My parents have always told me to follow this dream and to not give up. They both have been so encouraging since I was a kid to train my skills as an artist. My mom has always advised me to do what feels right for me, even if it is scary. She has always helped give me advice and encouragement when I felt lost along the way. Moving across the country was one of the scariest things I did, but it was a part of my bigger dream and she helped me pack up all my belongings and my car to do so. My sister is my model, and she is always helping me with design inspiration fueled from our travels together. She moved to Los Angeles with me to help make that step a little easier! I am so lucky to also have incredible friends and family who love to buy my jewelry, come to me with custom requests, and share my brand. I feel so thankful for this supportive community!

I am also now a part of this incredible new platform called The WMarketplace, founded by women to support woman-owned businesses. They have provided a space for me to grow my brand among other incredible female-founded small businesses.
