We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenina Simplicio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenina, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
After deciding to work for myself, the single most important decision I made that contributed to my success was actually to work less! I was working a multiple jobs. When I decided to focus on my photography business and made a better work life balance for myself everything came together. I was able to serve my clients better without being spread out too thin.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is natural, candid and magical. I find the best lighting and place you there but let you enjoy your day. My posing is subtle and not forced. I am proud that I create a comfortable environment for my clients and a lot of them I consider friends.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting Los Angeles I would definitely take them to one of my favorite spots, Casa Vega restaurant in Sherman Oaks. There’s no place for better Mexican food than L.A. and this spot is frequented by celebrities. So it’s a two for one. If we had another night I would take them to a classic, Yamashiro in Hollywood. There is a lot of history here and it has one of the best dining views in the area.
