We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennie & Aaron Berger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennie & Aaron, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
I guess to start, we have to say that we prefer to have smaller attainable goals that in the end will get us to our desired outcome. Last year we only dreamt of where we are now. Aaron is working fulltime for High Vibe and honestly, we didn’t think it would happen so soon. That was a huge accomplishment in just a year’s time.

With each month that passes, we have new dreams/goals/manifestations of where we see HV going. Right now, we’re trying to build our brand and get our name out there. We’ve been building such a loyal following within our local community and that was just a dream two years ago. We’ve had two very successful pop up shows this year and are booked with custom work through the end of this year. All these things were smaller attainable goals we set in the beginning of the year and are slowing lending a hand in getting us to where we ultimately want to be.

A major goal has always been to have a retail store front. Something unique and authentic… long term we’d like to offer food of some sort, maybe have a coffee bar, offer hand crafted cocktails in the afternoon, provide live music, and events. We want people to come to High Vibe Collective to enjoy good company, find unique treasures for their home, discover new music, and meet new people. We would love to have a workshop in the back where you can watch our employees build product for the store (which is another goal, to one day have employees lol). Long term there will be multiple HVC locations, ideally in all our favorite places- here in South Bay, Palm Spring/desert area, New Orleans… the list goes on.

Another goal that comes to mind is to one day collab with someone we admire. Jonathon Adler or Justina Blakeney to name a few, but you get the point. 🙂 We would also love to do a huge wall installation for a cool restaurant or hip hotel. Something where they offer us creative freedom to make something super rad for their space.

As you can see, we have many career end goals. As long as we’re in business, we will always have something to work towards and accomplish.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are a husband and wife duo building furniture and home decor.

Right now, we specialize in hand built custom furniture such as coffee tables, credenzas and other items for your home. We make limited runs of home decor pieces such as wall planters, cutting boards, trays, mirrors, incense holders, and more.

We have always been passionate about transforming a home into something that brings good and positive energy into your day to day life. We love creating unique pieces that elevate your space into something you are proud of. We have always had such an eclectic style of our own and wanted to bring that vibe into other people’s lives. We believe you should treat your home like a sanctuary and for us that means surrounding yourself with pieces that you love and inspire you daily. The quote by Nate Berkus says it all for me – “Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love.”

We strive to create pieces that will last a lifetime. We pour our hearts and souls into our projects and we love what we do. Aaron is VERY detail-oriented and takes the extra steps to make every part of a project count. We love creating together and we love creating things that no one else will have.

High Vibe Collective focuses on creating a vibe more than just creating furniture. We create pieces with intention, pieces that look and feel elevated. We want to bring all the good vibes and positive energy into people’s lives and homes as much as we can.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We LOVE live music, as most of our friends do. Most of the time, if our friends are in town, we’re going to see a show. For example, two best friends will be here in a month and we’re starting off the trip in Santa Barbara to see a show at the SB Bowl. By far one of the best outdoor venues in SoCal. Then we’re heading down to Orange County for the 3-day Ohana Festival in Dana Point. Almost all of our vacations surround music in some way. I’d be better off naming you all of our favorite music venues… lol

But really. there are so many “favorites” in LA. So many incredible restaurants, so many gorgeous views, so many rad neighborhoods, so many things to go do – how do you pick just one. We live by the beach which is like a vacation every day. We’re very fortunate to live where we live and get to experience this life here. It’s too hard to pick favorites when you live in such an incredible place.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people we need to give credit to for our success thus far.

The first one being our best friend, Dawn Dafgek of Bone by Dawn. Dawn launched her (very successful) jewelry + accessory business probably 5+ years ago. Watching her overcome obstacles and grow her business was so inspirational. When we decided to buckle down and really launch High Vibe, Dawn offered so much advice and guidance. She still does today. She 100% has been our biggest mentor in this entire process. We probably dive her nuts asking questions sometimes, but what are friends for. 🙂

Both of our parents have supported us since day one. From the moment we told them we wanted to start this business, they believed in it full force. Not to mention, Aaron’s dad is an artist and my dad is a professional woodworker. Between their two skill sets and expertise, we’re covered! They both offer great advice from their professional experience during their careers, and it has been such a blessing to us.

Every single person in our life that cares about us has supported us more than they can imagine. From friends encouraging us to follow our dreams, to followers on Instagram buying for themselves or as gifts. They are ALL just as important as the other in our journey to success.
