We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Rosales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, what is the most important factor behind your success?
What is success? To me, success means something a little different to each person. We all get a blank slate to write our own story. I always believed success was impacting the lives of others and leaving a positive imprint in this world. That is how my story started. From a young age, I dreamt big, loved a lot, worked hard, and gave endlessly. I sought after my dreams, said yes to every new opportunity, and wasn’t afraid to fail. I built a strong mindset, met with mentors, utilized my strengths, and improved on my weaknesses. I knew that consistency was key and to never give up. And these are the key principles, I attribute to my success.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a passionate Speech-Language Pathologist who has been practicing for approximately 11 years in an outpatient medical setting. I have the opportunity to help both pediatrics and geriatrics with speech, language, cognition, and/or swallowing abilities. I strive in providing excellent care and create individualized treatment plans to reach the best outcomes. Healing is a journey and can be a long and draining road. My goal is to promote positivity, treat the areas of need and offer support by connecting patients to local community resources. I believe communication is a human right and every person deserves a voice. I do everything possible to advocate for patients and provide the tools necessary to have them feel confident in communicating as best they can. I also have the opportunity to teach at a local university. Passing on knowledge to future generations is powerful. My hope is to inspire students, motivate them to work hard, and push them to exceed their dreams. Lastly, I collaborate with a nonprofit where brain injury survivors can practice communication, build confidence and reintegrate back into the community. This component is huge as Insurance limitations can hinder the number of services a patient can receive. Many patients find hope knowing that there is additional support.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would embark on an outdoor adventure, most likely a hike or visiting one of the beautiful botanical gardens in the local area. After that, we would relax on the beautiful beach and maybe even catch a stunning sunset. We would enjoy the many local eateries and indulge in delicious ice cream from the local area.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe all my success to my loving and supportive husband, my encouraging family, my wonderful friends, and my dedicated mentors. I also contribute my success to my students and patients, who I’ve learned so much from. Each and everyone has played a huge role in shaping me into the person I am today.
