We had the good fortune of connecting with Jensine Baltazar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jensine, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The Alchemy Craft is my creative channel. Behind the brand, I am a corporate event planner from 9-5. So creativity spews in my day job by design, media, and building relationships. However, I am so grateful I am able to tie in spirituality with my small business, With Pisces in my sun sign, I identify with the mystical world from birth. I think that creativity is an innate journey through life experience. Why are are love songs so popular? Everyone goes through a broken heart. When your spirit is broken, you seek answers. I was able to find purpose through astrology, tarot, and ritual practices. I love that I can be myself and heal others along the way. The universe speaks to us in a language we can only understand. Sometimes people need help translating what these messages mean. Humans are programmed to please others, when we should really try to please ourselves first. I like to create an atmosphere based on self love, which is one of my most popular candle scents. Many supporters tell me they can feel a sense of calm when indulging in my candles and that notion electrifies my creativity. I think the most important takeaway is when you love what you do, you attract that kind of energy in your art.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I don’t consider my small business a career. It is truly a creative outlet away from the noise and chaos of mundane life. So much generational trauma resides in our familial space. That’s significant reason why I felt the need dig deep in my spiritual practice. The practice of finding balance and honoring one’s self. It’s not easy turning inward and recognizing triggers. But astrology and connecting to something you cannot hear or see can be hard for some individuals to grasp. Many may not be apt to recognizing the energy within themselves. I do in fact create tangible items for people to enjoy. However, The Alchemy Craft stands by the meaning behind the objects. You may not know that your rising sign is in Leo and moon sign is in Capricorn. You may not believe that your Venus is in Aquarius and that’s why you love a certain way. Practicing magic is not associated with some sort of cult. I believe it is the power of intention that heals and helps others.

I am most proud of our candle collection. I feel the utmost gratification hearing that my candles put their senses at ease or becomes a focal point for rituals. Aren’t you a little bit curious what crystals do and why the moon plays a part in your mood? That can be the biggest challenge. The challenge for people to break away from their norm and trust their intuition.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
South Bay living is the best kind of living. Growing up in San Pedro, we say this is where the ghetto meets the sea. I can attest that we have the most amazing ocean views on this side of town. The ideal day starts in Old Town Torrance with breakfast at Clutch and Coffee, a motor enthusiasts themed diner. Please try the blueberry pancakes with lemon butter, you will thank me later. Top that off with a iced mocha and you are ready to take on the day. If it’s the 4th Sunday morning of the month, stay where you are! The Antique Market is open with local vendors. My favorite vendor is the crystal guy. He sells an array of healing crystals with a little history behind each stone. If you are down for a good flea market this is the spot for some cool antiques. Next up on the itinerary…it’s not 5 o’clock, but I know you want a good beer after the antique fair. Around the corner are a million breweries hidden behind industrial buildings. You would never know they were there! Just to name a few – The Strand, Yorkshire Brewery, and Smog City have a cold brew calling your name. Just to think, we haven’t even left Torrance yet. But it’s time to burn off those morning calories with a ocean trail hike in Rancho Palos Verdes. Nestled in front of a golf course and the peninsula is the Ocean Trails Reserve. EPIC EPIC VIEWS + Photo opps are endless ! I would rate this trail a 3 out of 5 in terms of difficulty. Kids and pets are welcome. Did someone say lunch? One popular local spot is Busy Bee sandwiches. I’ve been going here since high school and I think the same guys still work there. Try the turkey and avocado, you can’t go wrong.

What can I say? I like a nice mellow day where you can appreciate a little bit of nature and the sea. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband and best friend is my number one supporter. He helps me print labels in the middle of night. I come home to a ton of recyclable packaging and boxes that he will save for shipping orders, He has always believed in me from day one when starting a small business. Not to mention, he’s another creative soul who can make a dollar out of fifteen cents. So brainstorming creative products together is like an episode of The Office…things get really weird and funny! One summer, we did continuous craft shows in the blistering California heat. He gladly setup up my tent and table with no complaints, just the intention to spend time together…and get a free lunch haha. Now that is LOVE! The people closest to you are an extension of your energy field. As a result, soulmates have that can kind of impact on each other. He’s my soulmate.
