Meet Jeremy Osei | Photographer and Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy Osei and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I would say i was not initially focused on the business aspect of things. I started photography because i had an urge and a love of show and representing the people and things around me. Photography and videography were avenues able for me to do that. Making money was just a plus. I created this business to have the ability to spread my vision to all.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I personally believe that everybody has an artistic/creative side to them, even if they would not like to admit it. My goal during my shoots is to find a way for that sided to show. I don’t over direct during shoots, in fact I like to keep directing and posing on my end to a minimum. I want my clients to express themselves in a way where they feel most comfortable. I feel that these types of images are the ones I love the most.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Chicago is a great place and definitely what you make of it! I would start off with he touristy places such as Millennium park, The Bean, Willis Tour, Navy Pier etc. I would then get on a sunset architecture cruise with them to really get a good look of how beautiful the city is. We would spend at least one day going through the museums in Chicago there are some truly amazing ones here like the MCA. We would spend time going to all the amazing food places that Chicago has to offer like Giordano’s of course. Spend some time shopping at stores of course such as RSVP Gallery, Boneyard, Round Two, Fat Tiger workshop, etc. Most of the time though we would spend roaming around Chicago finding things to do!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say that my girlfriend Marian was very pivotal to my sucess. She would always encourage me even at times when I did not personally believe in my work and gave me honest critiques that I always needed to hear and suggestions on how to improve. i would not be where I am in my journey today without her. I also would like to thank Eddie Oppong for allowing me to bring his creative visions to life and the exposure and growth that it has created. My growth is even shown through his projects alone over time.
