We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeserey Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeserey, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
From my very first night in Los Angeles away from home and eight years later. I find myself at war with whether I made the right decision in making the big move to Hollywood, CA and pursue my singing, modeling, and acting career. I was young, full of hope, and determined. But, no one tells you about the many sleepless nights, no’s in audition rooms, the competition. I came to find that the biggest competition I have yet to face is myself. The voice in my head telling me maybe it’s time to make a shift, change careers, give up. The question is “How to know whether to keep going or to give up?” For me the answer is keep going. Why? I say keep going because you’re still contemplating, you’re wondering if it is the right thing to do. A part of you is still being pulled in the other direction. I know that if I were to give up, no one else would be disappointed or heart broken but myself. Keep going for yourself and no one else. This is how I know to keep going. The thought of all my dreams coming true, how bright the future still shines, I won’t be able to obtain if I simply give up.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There is only one of each of us. No matter how you twist and turn it, we are all influenced by different people, music, things, experiences, all of it. This is what makes us who we are. I am most excited about the music I’ve been working on for the last year. I began writing music two years ago and it has been a great source of escape and release. I have been fortunate enough to meet amazing creatives and people along the way. My producer, known as DJRYNLIVE. Along with a great friend of ours, known as Canvos Music. We have released two singles off of my EP and without Ryan none of it would be possible. The journey to where I am today has been anything but easy. I have been faced with challenges each and everyday. To say I went to bed and woke up with a new mindset, would be untrue. I work each and everyday on myself. Acknowledging the problem and working from there. Some hard lessons I’ve learned is that comparing myself to others has been my biggest downfall. We all work at a different pace. Someone else’s time is different from mine. Staying positive is my biggest challenge each and every day. I want the world to know they will one day learn who Jeserey is. My music has slowly, but surely coming together. It is something that I am new to, but I am also extremely proud of what I have released for everyone to hear. My hope is that people will take the time to learn more about ment and my music.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to my favorite spots, such as overlooks of Los Angeles. Living in LA, finding a quiet and less impacted area is difficult. Lights, people, crowds are near to impossible to avoid. There are many LA spots I definitely would take my best friend to. It is very “LA”, but one of my favorite spots is a restaurant called Tao LA. It is Asian fusion restaurant. It gives an amazing vibe with delicious food! Iced coffee is my weakness and the best place I have found for a chai latte is called Carerra Cafe on Melrose. I also love shopping, I mean who doesn’t? The Americana at Brand in Glendale, CA has been one of my favorite places to go shop, walk around, grab a small bite or a nice dinner out. It’s LA, not going to the beach would be a crime. One of my favorite beaches in SoCal is in Malibu. There are many little hidden gems in SoCal, you just have to take the time to find them! Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my parents. My mom and dad. From the first time I’ve ever performed in front of a large crowd when I was 12 years old. There they were with their camcorder, the biggest and brightest smiles. I found them in the audience. To years later still calling them for every good or bad news I may receive. They’ve given up so much to get me to where I am today. They’ve never doubted my abilities and they continue to be my number one supporters.
