We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica McLernon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Integrity has always been a core value of mine and is a central tenet of my business. During my own home search before I became a realtor, I found the process to be frustrating and confusing. When I decided to transition into real estate, I vowed to operate with honesty and transparency. Developing trust and long-term relationships with my clients and colleagues is always the prevailing priority.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work in residential real estate sales in Santa Barbara, a coastal town about 90 miles North of Los Angeles. I am a partner at Randy Solakian Estates Group, and I am fortunate to work with two partners whom I admire and learn from every day, Randy Solakian and Deanna Solakian Williams. We have different strengths and bring diverse perspectives to the table, but we share the same core values. Our collaborative approach offers the best of each of us to our clients.
Although we specialize in luxury real estate, we serve a wide variety of clientele at different life stages and price points from the young family buying a first home in Goleta to the high-profile seller in Montecito.
I love the personal dynamics of real estate. As a realtor, I get deeply immersed in people’s lives during times of transition and growth. It is so rewarding to help people navigate through these times and achieve their goals.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My perfect Santa Barbara day would start with an oat milk latte at Handlebar Coffee Roasters. Then I would go for a morning hike at Rattlesnake Canyon Trail (don’t be scared by the name, its beautiful!).
For lunch, I would grab tacos at any one of our amazing local taquerias (El Sitio, Los Agaves, La Super Rica, Corazon Cocina, Lilys… too many good ones to name!) I would spend the afternoon strolling through the Funk Zone checking out galleries, vintage shops, and wine tasting rooms. Or I would head to Hendry’s Beach for a lazy afternoon on the sand.
In the evening, I would meet friends for a glass of wine at Satellite, my favorite natural wine bar, and then head to dinner at Sama Sama, a Michelin-award winning, farm-to-table restaurant serving Southeast Asian food. We’d have a nightcap next door at The Good Lion, which serves up craft cocktails in a cozy setting, and then a Lyft ride home for 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep (a working mom can dream!)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give my husband, Michael McLernon, a shout-out for encouraging me to make the career transition. I’ve always loved residential real estate. I would constantly drag him to open houses on the weekends and help my friends with their home searches. But initially I didn’t see it as a viable career choice, and I felt committed to the career path I had already chosen. Mike helped me gain the courage to take a leap of faith and follow my passion.
