Meet Jessica Valenzuela | Wedding Planner & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Valenzuela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Being a business owner is not easy. There’s a reason why majority of the world works in corporate and relies on their benefits and a steady income. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I have thought about going back to corporate a few times when things have gotten hard. What keeps me motivates to keep going is my “why” and knowing I wouldn’t have come this far if I did stay at my other job. Yes, it’s hard right now, but businesses take time. I believe 100% in a few years I will see exponential amount of growth. Plus, my clients are so sweet and I do genuinely love what I do.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Not Jess A Planner is an event planning and designing company based out of Los Angeles, California. Founder and lead planner, Jessica “Jess” Valenzuela has always dreamt about being a planner and set out to create her own brand after years of experience working with her idol David Tutera. She learned what it took to be a great planner and won a prestigious award from her recognizable efforts. After getting her feet wet, she knew this was her calling. Ms. Valenzuela has has the pleasure of working with top named celebrities and other well known top planners throughout Southern California.

Prior to her occupation as a wedding planner, she was an accountant at a top Big 4 firm and quit her job to live out her dream. Not only is she a remarkable planner, but her knowledge in numbers and excel is a bonus to her clients. Ms. Valenzuela would like everyone to know that it is possible to live out your dream and encourages you to try and go for it. It’s better knowing you tried than looking back on “what if?”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re a Disney fan, we must go to Disneyland! If you like partying or yummy food, West Hollywood is the place! if you want to hit the beach, let’s go to Malibu or Laguna. Theses are my top favorite spots to go to.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout The Planner Life Community for helping me understand what it’s like being a planner and saving me years of time and experience of what it would have been otherwise. I have gained so much knowledge through this community and having a group to come to if I ever need help has been so comforting.
