We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Valenzuela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
To fail forward. Often times I felt the need to be perfect and that I had to nail everything down before accepting a client. The truth of the matter is we all learn from our mistakes or experiences. I once saw this quote and it’s stuck by me ever since which was, “First Attempt At Learning.” It’s an optimistic view that has helped me cope with the fact that I do not have to have the answer for everything or feel like I need to have it all figured out.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Certainly, when a client books me its more than just a wedding. As a planner it’s a true honor to have their trust to help guide them in the right direction and make sure it all goes smoothly. I set myself apart by providing a seamless and smooth client experience. Not only will they receive my undivided attention, but they will also feel in control, less worried, and focusing on the celebration. I am so proud to say I planned a high profile event within 5 weeks of notice to their event. It was somewhat challenging as time was not on our side and we had to make fast decisions. What helped overcome these challenges was keeping an open and honest communication between the clients and vendors. The lessons I learned along the way were to give myself grace. Set aside time to rest and time to work vs being on the go. Otherwise, it could lean to possible burnout. What I want the world to know about my story is that anything is possible. Those dreams you once had when you were younger, why couldn’t you achieve them? For so long I thought my dreams were playing way too large and wouldn’t be possible. Today I can proudly say I’ve worked with amongst the best in this industry and with hard work, determination, and a dream all is possible. Keep going, you’ve got this!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Must do in LA are : -Hollywood Sign -Hollywood Walk of Fame -California Donuts -Rodeo Drive -The Broad Museum -Portos Bakery -Universal Studios -King Taco -Perch -Malibu Beach

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Gosh there are so many people to thank, but if I had to pick one it would be Bryiana Dyrdek. Bryiana came into my life when I didn’t realize how much I needed her. She has encouraged me to go after my dreams and together with how impactful we realized just how needed it is in our society to have a support system we created Iconic Wine Beauties. This organization has grown into a sisterhood nationwide and has brought many women together who empower one another.
