We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk sparked my mentality to consistently say “Put up or shut up!” When I think about taking risks my heart drops, my palms sweat, and my eyes shift and those feelings indicate I am getting ready to do something that will spike my value personally or professionally. My risk taking has allowed me to kick open doors that were shut years ago, scale my brand, and ignite my profit margin drastically! Risk is a non-negotiable in this life of entrepreneurship.

Betting on myself was the biggest risk I could have taken and it’s been the wildest ride of my life. Being a recovering job hopper (16+ jobs), I recognized that leaving a job without having a job was a risk- BUT I DID IT ANYWAY! Now not knowing when your next pay check is coming is the biggest risk and motivator combined. I’m built for the grind and hustle so I would prefer to risk it ALL on myself than give all my sweat, talent, and tears to a company who wouldn’t piss on me if I was on fire.

As a career consultant I dare my clients to take risks and believe in themselves, could you imagine the type of hipocrite I would be if I didn’t do things that made my heart fall to my butt. It is my goal weekly to take a risk whether thats pitching a potential partnership, shooting my shot with a local organization, or pushing out video content (which scares the hell out of me). I have a sticky note in my journal that reads “without risk there is no reward” as a daily reminder to get after the hard things.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being an asset-I set cold rooms on fire and I make my presence felt-those are my differentiating factors. I’m the burst of energy professionals didnt know they needed.  I don’t care to compare but I do compete! I love having a durable work ethic-I won’t be out worked.

The fact that professionals trust me to turn their careers upsidedown, resumes inside out, and enhance their confidence makes me estatic. I’ve unconventionally supported 2200+ professionals to snatch $97K+ in salary increases, WFH stipends, relocation expenses, and mental health/wellness benefits- I push my clients to shoot their shot.

This is a learning journey and none of it has been easy. There are months where the account is $0.00 and months where I can’t believe I’m getting paid this much to do something I love. There are two extremes to this entrepreneurial road and I have experienced them both. Consistency, having venting sessions with my accountability partners and being open enough to know that I don’t know it all. These things have pushed my mindset through challenges and unforeseen barriers as a small business. Being consistent is playing a huge factor into growing my success.

Along the way, I’ve learned that things happen when you put your money where your mouth is. This means investing in myself, my business, and the help I need to grow in areas I’m unsure of. It has been game changing recalizing that I don’t have to be super woman, I don’t have to do every single thing alone, and it is okay to ask for support.

I want the world to know that I’m fearless and never afraid to fight for my brand. Please understand that no will never derail my trajectory in success and I am building to leave a legacy.

Leaving everyone to remember not to take any mess, create the life you want to live, and live every day to your highest potential.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A must is The Coffee Bar, grab a Rosemary Lavendar latte to get ready for the day. Lunch will be at La Cabana. A good cocktail will be at the Slanted Tree.

Going to Napa would be the most fun activity because it’s wine country and the scenery is breath taking.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success goes to my freaking favorite family Rickie & Janie my parents and my siblings Rickie & Felicia Williams-all who have supported this crazy journey I jumped head first into.

I would be LOST without my accountability partners: Eboni Robinson, Latanya Terrones, Kadija Phillips, Ashlyn Artis, Tiffanie Walker, Dr. Alexander and Javan Williams-With this group right here I’ll never fail!
