We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with Speak 4 Yourself through my own personal experiences. I went through a very ugly divorce that resulted in a bitter custody battle. At the time, my ex husband put the children in the middle of adult issues. The divorce was mentally exhausting and there were times that I just wanted to stop the process because it was just too much. My son, Christian, who was 5 at the time attempted suicide because he did not know how to process what was going on. The adults could barely process it! He was crying out for attention and didn’t know how to properly put his feelings or emotions into words. I rallied around my son and asked him what could I do to make things better for him. He said he just wanted to be heard. Speak 4 Yourself is a safe space where individuals can share their story in a non judgemental setting and receiving healing from hurt, pain and trauma.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, and mother of three, but most importantly, I’m human-just like you! I too experience difficult times and understand how incredibly difficulty and scary the decision to start therapy can be. I want you to know- I’ve been there and it truly was the best decision I could have ever made. What I’ve found beautiful about the experience in therapy is the transformation-the chance you have to create the life you really want. Everything I’ve experienced has led me to truly value the sacred space we create in the therapeutic setting. I’m committed to supporting you throughout your journey and honoring your process. I support and challenge my clients so that they can begin identifying the patterns that are holding them back. There is a fair amount of serious work, and you will be supported and encouraged through the process. My goal is to walk beside you, listen, understand and support you in your efforts to heal. No one can tell your story better than you and with that I can’t say it enough-Speak 4 Yourself!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would tell my best friend to get dressed up and let’s hit up Downtown Detroit and explore the city. We are definitely going to Joe Muer for dinner, music and drinks.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without question, I simply would not be where I am today with the unwavering support of my mother, Catherine Broadnax, my brother and sister, Clarence and Rolisia Siebert and my greatest blessings that call me Mommy, Cameron, Christian and Trinity. They have been, and will always be the foundational people that have shaped my perspective on life and business. They are the people that I look to for guidance and inspiration as I maneuver through this journey called life.
