We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessie and Janette Wong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessie and Janette, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Janette and I work full time in healthcare and when balancing our career, family and DIY and interior design hobby, it could be a huge challenge. What made a huge impact in balancing our time is communication. As our life style change overtime, we have learned to help each other out when needed. We are aware that our career and family are top priority but it is important to make time for our hobby because it allows us to distress. You work as a team and that seems to work for us.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our most proudest moments are when we see our design come to life. It’s never easy because there is always trial and error. There are times where we don’t love the entire result so we tend to modify it to our liking, but we enjoy that the most. It is what makes it our own. We want everyone to know, use art as a way to express yourself. There is no perfection when it comes to art.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’ve lived in California for most our life and when Janette and I want to unwind we always think of going to San Diego for a road trip. If we could provide you with some suggestions we recommend walking through Balboa Park, enjoy some lunch at Phil’s BBQ, watch the sunset at La Jolla Beach Cove and have dinner at Little Italy. If you want to do a half day visit, we suggest hiking Flat Rock Beach at Torrey Pines and rewarding yourself with a lunch at Liberty Station Community Association where there are plenty of goodies to choose from. There are so much things to see and do in San Diego and we are positive that you would have a great time.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my friends and family. They encouraged us to start our Instagram and blog page. Not only that, but they continue to support us through our journey. We also want to thank our followers, we wouldn’t be Made Simply without you all. Major love to you all!
