Meet Jessika Fuhrmaneck | Sacred Story Teller

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessika Fuhrmaneck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessika, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
There is no option to give up. My work calls to me like a siren. Not a day goes by that I don’t ponder how to succeed at my business; the art of story telling.

We all know what we are here to do. If we are quiet enough, and if we turn off the many voices around us, we can remember what we want to contribute to our earthly community. We understand what our natural abilities are. When we are walking in authenticity and truth we know what must be done.

If you want to know whether to keep going in your business or to pivot, ask yourself if you would do it for free. If you had unlimited resources and unlimited time what would your days look like? What activities would you fill your days with if there were no restrictions on your time and budget?

If your business is anything other than that answer, it’s not the primary target. You can do other businesses for income, but the primary focus must be that thing that calls to you. Your divine assignment.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
By common standards I am not currently a “success”. There is nothing I can write here to brag about, no brand page for you to follow. My success is in NOT GIVING UP.

When I started in entertainment I was just 5 years old. Training as a dancer, and singing on the local radio station. I went on to enter into modeling and acting as a teen, and quickly into writing and producing in my 20s. I was on target for success.

There were hiccups along the way, but the biggest issue for me was surviving the abuse of producers and lead actors who were predators. I experienced lots of #MeToo moments and by my late 20s I felt that continuing in the entertainment industry was too dangerous for me.

Even with all the awareness and protocols now in place, I still experience upsetting interactions from time to time. But what I know is that it is those who keep going that succeed. What if we decide that success can happen to anyone at any point in their lives? What if we decided that our past experiences weren’t failures but preparations?

The key to success is resiliency. If I continue, I will eventually land where I’m meant to be. It’s ok to take breaks, but the thing I’m uniquely meant to do must be done. And so I continue.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My go to place is always gonna be Sanamluang Cafe in Thai Town. Bring cash. Order the chicken satay with peanut dipping sauce and a cucumber salad.

Next go to Mount Wilson (on a clear day) and get a view of the city. Griffith Observatory is lovely but it’s crowded and the views are limited. At Mount Wilson you can see from downtown to the ocean and even the stars if you stick around and check out the observatory telescope. Have a snack at Cosmic Cafe and hike on one of the many trails in the area.

If you must see the ocean the best way is to drive down Sunset Boulevard till you reach the Pacific Coast Highway. Turn north and head toward Malibu. Sadly there is much destruction from the 2025 fires, but there’s nothing more LA to me than driving the PCH with the windows down and breathing in the fresh salt air, while feeling the wind blow through your hair. It’s a truly magical experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have had a lot of training and support along the way, but in the darkest hours of the deepest emotional exhaustion it’s my family and friends who show up. I must credit my son with never ending dedication and availability to chat about business ideas and next steps.

My mom remains available for a simple chat when I’m overwhelmed. She’s a calm presence which gives me a break from the constant churning wheels of my mind. The steadiness of the relationship is important to me.

My best friend provides a safe space to share the darkest thoughts. No judgement, just calm listening, and a trustworthy comrade in difficult times. And also in fun times.

My network of friends within the artistic community have remained faithful to me whether I’m succeeding or absolutely failing. I don’t have transactional relationships. I don’t look for relationships that will benefit my business. Instead I surround myself with people who see the spark in me. Who see who I truly am and understand the importance of my work.
