We had the good fortune of connecting with Jester Productions and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jester, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
You can tell by the amount of resistance in your life. In our experience we’ve faced this question many times and we always seem to come back to the feeling of “I’m not done yet”. If there’s more to learn, grow, and experience as a creative or as a person, don’t give up. It’s calling to you for a reason. On the other hand, if you’ve tried all you can and still have no inspiration for things that once fired you up; it may be time to accept things that are not working out. To simplify the point, If you’re hitting your targets and still enjoy what you do, keep going. If you don’t enjoy it and are not making that much progress with your goals, it might be time to let things be.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
“For us, it’s the hunger to keep out doing ourselves. If there’s no client work, we’ll just end up using one of our friends and go shoot. When we were starting out we used ourselves as models a lot and still do from time to time. Staying active in the community and finding ways to continue being inspired keeps it interesting and progressive. Finding new people to work with, attending events and connecting to the current conversation – are all things that push us forward.”
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To start we would have dinner at Tres Muchachos in Costa Mesa, with the best sangrias, most amazing seafood and even better service. Vibes are 10/10. Fun places like Mission Control in Santa Ana, doughnuts at Blackies in Newport or walking around Balboa and taking the ferry to the funzone and ending the night driving down the PCH watching the sunset, and maybe even try to get a little photo shoot in there!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
