We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesymar Claro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jesymar, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
As silly as it might sound, probably the most valuable lesson I have learned is that I can do it. I have been doing it and I can do anything that comes through my mind. Jesy Decorations has been a reality check for this. It has taught me that I am capable of completing challenging tasks and achieving many things I always saw very far from reality. When I was younger, I dreamed about being any kind of art teacher. Nowadays, I get the opportunity to teach my art to both the English and Spanish community and positively impact people with my custom gifts.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Jesy Decorations is a platform that allows me to create memorable moments through personalized gifts. I design custom boxes, balloons, and floral arrangements that make people smile, feel loved, and at times cry of happiness. Regarding what sets me apart from others, here is an anecdote: A long time ago someone asked me if I have bought my Instagram followers because “I had a lot” (near 20k), and although I don’t blame the person, I was in shock for a second and thought : “how is it possible that it is not normal that a person at a young age manages a business and their good work is reflected on their social media numbers?” And if you are wondering too, no, I haven’t bought my followers. My secret: persistence! I think that is what makes me stand out more than even my talent. Things I don’t talk about? Sometimes I have to wake up at 4 am, or go to bed every night at 12 am. Sometimes it’s very hard to sleep because my mind is always working. Simultaneously, I have to manage a college career at the same time as a personal life. It has not been easy but I have been able to grow with every situation. Call me a workaholic, but work for me is a way of relaxing. Of course I do have days where my creativity is at zero. If I have the time, I rest; if I don’t I keep working. You probably are not going to remember a single thing from this article, but if there is one thing I want you to remember is that if I could, and I am doing it, you can too! Dreams do not become a reality when you are sitting down waiting for them to come. The more you act or move, the more chances you have of achieving them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would show them things that I know they wouldn’t see anywhere else: I would drive the Pacific Coast Highway from Long Beach, passing through Huntington Beach and Newport Beach, all the way to Laguna Beach, which are the most Californian beaches I’ve ever seen. And since In-N-out is not everywhere, I would take them there and order a good burger.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I had to name all the people that have helped me through this journey, It’d probably be a long list, but I am very fortunate to have a family that not only supports me spiritually but physically. I am very thankful to have friends that also provide ideas to better the business and make it look more professional. As a matter of fact, the new teddy bear that helps me to give a more enjoyable delivery experience is a family member.
