We had the good fortune of connecting with Jihnae Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jihnae, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks comes with an experience. Experience, comes with lessons… whether it’s a bad experience or a good one, no matter what you learned something from. You can always gain something. As an actor/ creative… taking risks is key. Having tons of experience is major and important to take on roles of different people to BECOME and to bring the character to life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an actor who’s excited to share my raw, unfiltered talents as a creative.
I’m originally from New Jersey, so I grew up with the hustle-and-bustle mentality. The kind where if something needs to get done, you roll up your sleeves and make it happen. I’ve always worked multiple jobs, kept my plate full, and stayed moving, so when I came out here, I already knew the assignment: lock in and commit to my craft.

People think this industry is all red carpets and bright lights but it’s not. It’s long days, constant self-motivation, and pushing through the moments where your own shyness tries to hold you back. I’m naturally quiet, even a little awkward, so putting myself out there wasn’t easy. But whenever I start to hesitate, I ask myself, “How bad do you want this?” That question pushes me to show up for myself and my dreams, even when it’s uncomfortable.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned? Don’t wait for permission. If you want to be seen, you make it happen yourself. These days, social media is as much of a stage as anything else, and staying relevant, consistent, and creative is a hustle in itself. But it’s also a gift ; it’s how I connect with people on my own terms.

My brand is about mixing realness with joy. I like to ask, “What made you smile today?” because life moves fast, and those small moments matter. My supporters are my “honeys,” and I always sign off with, “Stay sweet, honeys.” Because no matter how hard the hustle gets, I want my work , and my presence ; to leave people feeling a little lighter, a little warmer, and a little more inspired to chase their own dreams.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, we’d mix cozy hangouts with a little adventure. First, I’d show off my new apartment; especially my couch, because good couches are rare treasures. Then we’d hit Taisho in Sherman Oaks, maybe catch live jazz in Beverly Hills, and pretend we’re outdoorsy with a hike. We’d vlog the whole week, visit my acting class, bike Santa Monica Beach, and end with church and a big Sunday dinner cooked by me, because I’m hands down the better chef.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Lewis smith’s actors academy. Lewis is a phenomenal acting coach. I love his commitment and dedication. Finding an instructor who actually cares is hard to find. He’s tough but he shows it with love.

Cory Roe , great partner, great friend, phenomenal support
