We had the good fortune of connecting with Joel Yarde and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joel, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is that everything takes time. I used to believe there was always a faster way to reach my goals, but I’ve learned that consistent effort and patience yield the best results. Just like when I kept practicing photography—over time, my photos significantly improved. The true beauty lies in witnessing the journey from where you started to where you are now.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business specializes in photography, with a particular focus on portraits. I have a passion for capturing images that exude a fashion, model-like aesthetic. What I’m most proud of is the positive impact my work has on people. Reading client reviews reassures me that I am serving them well, and it fuels my desire to continually improve and refine my photography skills.

What sets me apart from other photographers is my exceptional communication with clients. I prioritize understanding their vision and ensure they receive precisely what they want, adapting seamlessly to any changes that arise. My clients consistently highlight how unique my ability is to make them feel comfortable. Many start off camera shy, but my approach quickly helps them relax and feel at ease, resulting in more natural and genuine photographs.

In the early stages of my business, I encountered numerous challenges. One significant hurdle was the struggle to secure enough bookings. I faced the frustration of potential clients ghosting me, often due to pricing concerns or not needing photography services. Overcoming these obstacles was both mentally challenging and frustrating. However, this experience was crucial in shaping me into the person I am today.

One Sunday at church, a lady spoke briefly and said, “For those who have a business, you must put God first.” Her words resonated deeply with me and prompted a realization that changes were needed in my business approach. I began prioritizing giving over receiving. As a man of faith, I believe there are reasons for certain seasons. During this time, I continued to hone my craft, became more humble with my pricing, and gave more freely. By staying consistent with these principles, people began to recognize who I was and what I was becoming. Soon after, bookings started coming in.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that when you think of Justicee Photography, you know you are receiving the best and highest quality photoshoot experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend from out of town were visiting, I would definitely take them to MVP Burger Grill in Long Beach. The food there is so amazing that I would eat it every day if I could. Another great spot to visit is Bolsa Chica Beach. It’s a beautiful, clean beach perfect for relaxing, and the community there is wonderful.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely give a shoutout to my brother, Alister Yarde. He has been with me every step of the way. On days when I didn’t feel like working on Instagram or TikTok reels, he always kept me in check, reminding me of my goals and how to achieve them. Alister has played a crucial role in my success and achievements, and I am truly blessed to have him in my life
