We had the good fortune of connecting with Johnny King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Johnny, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I couldn’t do anything else. IVE TRIED. Haha. I tried being a photographer, a coach, a dog walker, etc etc. Anything to not have to do THE BIG SCARY VERY VISIBLE THING. And… it’s the only thing for me. And the only thing I have a burn it all down passion for.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hi you gorgeous angels. My names Johnny King. I sing my face off and talk about everything we’re all to uncomfortable to talk about and it brings me JOY. Some of my biggest challenges were all about visibility and being seen while feeling SAFE. I grew up being bullied badly and just not understood and the freak. So being seen = BAD. And it’s taken a long time to uncoil all of that and stand in all the weird crazy beauty and give others permission to do the same.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d go to Tatsu ramen. For sure. The Tower Bar on Sunset. Best damn food. Oh my god.
A long sunset drive in the hills to end the day

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All of my incredible friends who hype me up and call me in. They’re magic.
