We had the good fortune of connecting with Jomo Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jomo, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is very important to practice. We hold ourselves back a lot due to trying to predict the end result when trial and error contribute to your growth in a huge way!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I moved closer to LA to be around a more intense dance scene. Where I’m from it only gets so advanced to where you’re going to need a push elsewhere. I moved closer and continued to work my 9-5. As a general manager on a sandwich shop. I was working hours up hours with this company while somehow a still training, but here’s the moment that changed my life……. I made it into a game show “Let’s Make A Deal”. I was so blessed, I won $50,000 so unexpectedly within seconds! What sets me apart is I used that money to turn my life around to live it how I’ve always dreamed. I quit my job, bought a camera and built my brand from the ground up. NOW I’m currently signed with an agency, I book several jobs filming every week and my dance career is now starting to scratch the surface of the industry!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Coffee shop – Belgium Waffle Haus
Millennium Dance Complex
Finny’s Craft House
Ventura blvd/ Burbank for shopping
Santa Monica beach, Venice beach
Rooftop movie theatre
West Hollywood
San Fernando valley street tacos
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dave Warren – My best friend Hamilton Evans – previous dance Mentor The dance community in LA deserves a shoutout honestly. I can tell you why , everyone’s been so supportive whether they’ve known me for a while or just met me.
