We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonaa Darrie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonaa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Representing luxury brands for over twenty years has made me intimately familiar with the world of fine fragrance.. These experiences , combined with my love of world travel, art, music, dance and the history of story telling through fragrance inspired me to create my own brand. When I started TOSCA HONEY I wanted to create a niche collection of candles using the most exquisite ingredients, while staying socially conscious.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My brand is about the art of story telling through fragrance. Each candle is created after a story, and will transport you there. TOSCA HONEY is honored to work with some of the finest perfumers in Grasse, France, known as the fragrance capitol of the world. Our blend of vegan waxes and our glass vessels are made in the the US. These exquisite ingredients are ethically sourced and animal cruelty free. The ritual of lighting a candle is one that delights the senses . It is a moment of peace and luxury, with the added bonus of intriguing and calming fragrances- something we could all use in today’s world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the art and culture of LA, West Hollywood has fabulous shopping and night life. The Fashion District is a great spot to explore and of course my favorite, The Getty an absolute must when visiting.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been blessed to have the love and support from family and friends who encouraged me along the way and continue to do so. Someone that I can say gave me the passion and drive would be my Grandfather, an Italian master tailor, whose craftsmanship was a form of art and self expression. He modeled grace, class, was always a gentleman and treated people with kindness and respect.
