We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonny D’Amico and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonny, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The key to my success is that I’m the real deal. I’ve been living and breathing the Sunset Strip for over 30 years – it’s not just where I work, it’s my home and my lifestyle. I’ve played the venues on the Strip countless times, and my roots run deep. But it’s not just about being a musician, I’ve also worked as a stage manager for big acts like Guns & Roses, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and even had the opportunity to work for the Arena Football Team owned by Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley of Kiss.
I’m a familiar face on the Sunset Strip, and every tour is infused with my personal experiences and connections. This isn’t just a job, I pour my passion for the Sunset Strip into every tour. From performing on stage to behind-the-scenes work with rock legends, my journey is intertwined with the heartbeat of the Strip.
My authenticity sets me apart. I give my all on every tour, ensuring my guests not only learn about the Strip’s history but also feel like insiders.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I give everything I’ve got on every tour. It was a lot of work to puzzle to out how I was going to give my guests an immersive experience, yet stay within reasonable time and distance constraints. Once it came together, I knew I had something special. Because the Sunset Strip and the music scene are always in motion, I have to stay current to give my tour guests the best possible experience that meshes the classics with current trends.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Easy, Take my walking tour first so I can give you an insider’s knowledge of everything L.A.. I’m a native here and I’ve lived on the Strip for over 30 years. This is my turf. I make it my business to stay connected with the ins and outs of what happening on the Strip and surrounding areas. When you take my tour, you’ll see I know pretty much everyone. They keep me in the loop of the Sunset Strip scene. I have just one goal on my tour … and that is to blow your mind!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this to the venues, restaurants, hotels, and shops that let me do my thing. I can’t thank them enough. It’s always a thrill to introduce my guests to places they weren’t sure about or didn’t even know existed. Doing what I do is an honor, and I couldn’t do without their hospitality.
