We had the good fortune of connecting with Naul Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Naul, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Don’t let someone who doesn’t know your value tell you how much you’re worth.” What I love about this affirmation is that it grounds you and always reminds you to live at a high frequency. There’s so many critics in the world waiting to tell you what you’re worth to them but its you who determines your value.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart? I don’t mean to be presumptuous when saying this but Father Drip gives you life, truth, the mojo to your jojo. You get the character, the story, and then some. Now there’s certainly more work to be done because we never stop growing it’s just journey as a never ending student. With each creation the vision grows, I’d like to add that being on various sets have aid in the development of what’s to come.
Getting to where I am is no easy feat, it took tireless night, different living situations and a lot of dedication. I never would have thought this is where I would end up 7 years ago. Support from mentors, family, and friends played a crucial role in how I moved forward. There was more times than I can count where I thought “this is it” but then it would be a disservice to not only myself but the promise I made to my great grandmother to do everything I can to win.
I’ve learned a lot patience in this journey. I like to say Integrity Over Everything, money is here but can’t go with you. You learn a lot about the importance of the company you keep. The journey for me has involved a number of feats including grounding myself to discern what battles are truly worth fighting for. Sometimes we can stand in our own ways and never truly realize it until it’s too late. Also, projection of fear is a real deal. People will place discernment and disbelief in your dreams due to fear of their own dreams being unrealized instead of acknowledging that everyones journey work for them with good reasons.
Know that Father Drip is here to add that Buttah Crisp or Flava to the game with time. If you didn’t know Father Drip is just the Hood Soul Brotha you never knew you needed. With that we’re here to bring you a vsibe with and old skool touch. There’s a lot in the work with my brand (FatherDrippp & DripppVisuals) that I can’t yet discuss but stay tuned to the progress cause we’re moving and grooving!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Nature is usually a good go to for me, a hike in Runyon is always a good icebreaker. If we’re building an itinerary we could go on a gondola ride or wine tasting. However if we’re getting to something more active we could take an archery lesson or go bowling. Food has been interesting out here in LA being from Chicago, IL. The food just hits a bit different so there aren’t to many food joints I would recommend but there’s this spot called Uncle Andre’s BBQ in Studio City. It’s probably the food joint closes to home that I can get out here. Night life in LA is an automatic vibe whenever you’re out with me and my friends we can turn anything into a function.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a major shoutout to my mentor Tanji Harper. It takes a lot for me to call someone a mentor just because of how sacred I feel that word truly is. She took me under her wing showed me in the beginning that I could take my talents to the next level, that I could thrive off being a dancer. Giving me the support needed to really push myself and those around me.
