We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordyn Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordyn, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Patience and consistency. Being a musician takes a lot of small bits of progress over time. You don’t always notice it until one day you look back and you’re in a completely different place.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A big part of my journey as a musician has been teaching. It’s something I’ve been doing since middle school, teaching the younger students. Now that I’m in college, teaching is something I do for work. I have students that take private lessons with me on both trumpet and piano, and I teach brass at multiple high schools. I love teaching and I feel incredibly lucky that my work doesn’t really feel like work. I also look forward to some more performing in the future, both with my ensembles at CSUN and outside of school.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting I’d take them to see some live music. Some good places are The Baked Potato and The Mint.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my past band directors, Cynthia Snyder, Ken Hoffman, and Jason Delfing. I feel so lucky to have had so many fantastic teachers in my life, and I am who I am today because of all of them. I’d also like to thank my parents for being so supportive of my music.
