Meet Jordyn Curet | Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordyn Curet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordyn, why did you pursue a creative career?
When I was younger, I would always ask to join theatre and music classes so I can express myself through what I love. Acting and singing was my escape from the rest of the world, where I could just be myself. When I started watching Disney Channel, I finally saw what I wanted my future to be, which was be an onscreen actress. My Mom and Dad saw how passionate I was about my art, and supported me when I asked them to auditions for shows, commercials, and movies. Overall, I believe that acting is my destiny.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There is no doubt that acting has been one of the most fulfilling things in my life. Many of my life experiences have been influenced by it. Since I started my career as an actress so young, I have had a lot of opportunity to grow both as an actress and as a person. One of my recent projects was to work on 911. I had the opportunity to explore different emotions, characters, and situations. As opposed to my usual comedic work, such as Home Economics and Raven’s Home, the material for this project was quite different from the material I usually worked on. However, I was eager to show a more dramatic side of my acting. Adding vulnerability and unwillingness to my character was something that I was eager to explore, and I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to play a role with these characteristics. I have also gained a strong sense of self-confidence as a result of this program and it has been one of the greatest assets I have ever had in my life. The diversity of my roles has allowed me to take risks, push my boundaries, and challenge myself in ways that I have never before experienced. In Holiday Harmony, my character Rosemary was shy, afraid of failure, and as opposed to me, who is quite outgoing and rarely nervous, it was a great opportunity for me to step outside of my comfort zone and embrace Rosemary’s personality, as Rosemary and I are polar opposites. A lesson I’ve learned is rejection is something that I believe is important to learn from early on. With casting directors constantly turning down actors and actresses, letting rejection get to your head is going to make things difficult if you want to pursue acting in the long run. Everybody gets told no at least once in their life, it’s how you react to it that changes the perspective of it. Lastly, I would like people to know that booking my first job did not happen over night, it took me months to book my first ever commercial in LA. Because I kept my determination and faith that I would get a job one day, I wasn’t discouraged to give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA County is one of the most diverse areas in California, you can visit Hollywood, which is known to be a big tourist spot for everyone who visits LA. Another great place to stop by is Burbank, which has lots of studios, their most famous being Warner Bros Studios. My personal favorite place in LA to eat at is Chess Park Lounge. Musical guests perform every night, the food is delicious, and it’s a great place to catch up with friends and family. Universal Studios is my favorite place to hang out with my friends, we go every Friday after school. It has entertainment, rides, and food. I would also recommend walking around Rodeo Drive. Rodeo Drive is another spot in LA where you can find many tourists, but it’s fun to look at all the fancy shops and take pictures with your friends.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout my manager, Deb Berger, who has always made sure to advocate for me and has been nothing but supportive of me. Without her, I wouldn’t have played as many roles as I have today. She truly believed in me from the beginning, and knew that there would be great things in store for me one day. With every no I get in my career, she encourages me to keep working hard to finally get that yes. I’m so grateful for her mentorship and for always pushing me to reach my potential. She’s an amazing mentor and a role model, and I’m thankful to have her in my life.
